SunnyBoy
I've got an old chris king hub with the funn bolt axle conversion. The guy who had it before me hacksawed the non-drive side threaded axle end (the part that clamps the frame, after the collar) - I'm assuming he wanted to fit it onto a 116mm rear end . Is it possible to buy a small replacement axle end or does the entire axle need replacing? I'm sure I could figure it out if I were to take it apart but I don't want to buy the tool if I'm going to need to splash out on a complete axle. SunnyBoy
Is there any quick / cheap fix using QR components?
forteh
Afraid not, the QR and HD axles are complete different fittings. The QR axle kit is a touch cheaper but if you already have funbolts then just buy a replacement HD axle.
Azarathal
You also don't need an official chris king tool, you can either draft the bearing out with a hammer and punch or use a split wedge.
SunnyBoy
Cheers for the help! Don't think it's worth buying a brand new axle... I'm just going to have to slap whoever mutilated this pretty hub...
Al_Fel
You don't need the Chris King tool to take the axle out. You just need to undo the cassette lock ring and the 3/32" Allen key on the axle collar. Screw the collar off and push the axle out from non drive side to drive side. The axle might need a little tap to get it out but it shouldn't take too much.

dave33
You could get away with using a spacer on each side, snail cams of any thing. I once machined a king axle to fit a hydrox frame and snail cams
