monty221ti
Hi, The past few months or so my bike has been creaking somehow, it comes from the Bb or frame near the bb. When I pedal hard it creaks. When I put a hand on each pedal and push it hard sideways it creaks? It's a rockman bjorn frame, rockman lite cranks and a reset ti bb. Everything's greased up nice and tightened up. So what can cause the creaking?? Thanks Erik Found these crack in my frame the other day, that may explain the creaking. Send the pictures to rockman but only got one reply with the answer, where did you buy the frame? after replying that, no answers for a week or so? pics: http://s1074.photobucket.com/albums/w410/Erik-Juric/ Edited July 30, 2012 by monty221ti

Ben Gosden
Yeah i have this same problem. On my old bike czar my bb began creak really bad and lately i have bought a new frame and swaped the bb over and as i expected the creacking carried on but just lately i have had to buy a new bb and it was fine for say a week or so, not a sound and now it creaks as bad as my old mine. but i dont know why? BradJohnson
-take the cranks off and bb out, -clean all the threads - grease the bb up, -rub a slight bit of grease on the threads, -put the bb back in make sure it's tight, -clean the splines on the bb and inside the cranks, - tighten the cranks on, should do the trick, if not, check for cranks on your frame. SamKidney
Grease everything. BB/ Crank splines Pedal threads (copper anti seize) BB threads Lube your chain Grease your pedals bearings. Grease the area on your headset cups that sits inside the headtube too as well as the bearings. Should stop it.

isitafox
Strip your BB down as well as one of the bearings may be knackered and need replacing
Mark W
BB bearing death generally manifests itself as a sort of 'popping' noise when you're pedalling, whereas a creak is usually something a bit loose or dry getting it's rub on. Strip and re-grease everything - if it continues, it could be a sign something (such as the frame) has cracked.
isitafox
In that case I'm gonna throw a vote in for worn tapers on the crank arms which is what I'm currently suffering with

BradJohnson
The Frame is cracked and has been for a little time, but thats in the headtube? that will be the problem, when you push hard on the pedals, it will flex, the headtube. CalRobbo341
Did you buy it secondhand? If not why dont you tell them where you got it, then you may be able to get one from the warranty?
monty221ti
I already told them where I got it, in another mail, and them got no answers for 5/6 days now. I also found a 25+ mm crack in the disc side drop out, actually it looks like it isn't even welded there?

N.Wood
Could well be the dropout crack... My Yaabaa suddenly started creaking, spent ages looking and changed out a bottom bracket in a gravel car park to find it didn't solve anything. Ended up removing the chainstay protector and found the chainstay wasn't attached to the dropout any longer.

BradJohnson
Your pretty lucky, drill a small hole at the end of the crack on the head tube and that should be fine, and the crack on the chainstay can be welded.
robbie-woods
why would you drill a small hole? does it stop the crack going further?
