Olympic Opening Ceremony

The government better get straight back to prosecuting bankers after all this is over, and make proper laws to sort out this awful capital accumulation culture. What is Boris Johnson still hanging around with Rupert Murdoch at the Olympics for? f**k sake.

However, CityScan is being pioneered by Leicester Uni for the games, it can measure pollutant levels in 3D across the whole of London! What's great is that the area surrounding the Olympics has been pedestrianised, and CityScan has measured a drop of 80% in emissions because of it. This is great evidence that will surely guide decisions in future :)

edit, not warwick, dur

Never been a big supporter of the London Games and don't really care about 99% of the events but f**k me am I proud to have had even a slight involvement in the Team GB cycle success. They've done and are doing an incredible job and I sincerely hope the future of cycling in the UK is brighter than ever.

In a good old miserable anti Britain attitude way I must admit I thought the closing ceremony was also lame, and I think the act that did it for me has got to be Stomp.

I remember seeing them on Blue Peter about 20 years ago and it just made it seem that they were scraping the barrel for something to put on. Also to add to the people who think the Olympics were a waste of our money I noticed one of the commentators saying that the gold medals that we've handed out are the heaviest ones in Olympic history, why exactly did Great Britain need to do that?

Are we desperate to prove something??

Yeah, caught a glimpse of someone on a bike but I guess that was one of the bmxers.

Thought the closing ceremony was a bit lame, just because it didn't seem to have any direction. There was a tightrope walker at one point? Pretty cool - but why?

Umm - pink floyd

I think the weight of the "gold" medals is pretty insignificant when it comes to the financial aspect, but considering all the tourism I'd have thought the Olympics would have made the country money.
