Drilling Carbon Downtube Protector

Recommended Posts

hey,

ive got a carbon down tube protector for my frame but im not running a bash plate im using a ring. wondering if it is possible to drill a hole in the protector for the bash mount of the frame to fit in without the protector fraying. only reason i want to do this is because im more likely to hit the frame where the plate should be and not in front of the mount like it shows on the picture on tarty where the protector should go.

any help appreciated :)

dont want to cut the mount of as the frame is still under warrenty and if it breaks then im f**ked haha

Could just grind the mount off if you're not using it?

JD in not reading thread shocker!

In answer to the post, just drill a hole in the protector, if you are really worried about it fraying get some epoxy resin, or something similar, and seal around the hole before you mount it on your frame.
