Dual Bb7's

Hi guys, I am upgrading to a Rockman Aurem 3 and therefore my new build will be dual disc.

My question to you is, does anyone have any info from experience or just thoughts on running dual BB7's or BB5's. I would plan to run these calipers with a really nice CNCed lever, i believe they are called Aest, the levers on there own weigh only 27g.

So if anyone knows if the Avid BB's would have a decent hold on them it would be good to know. If not throw some brake options at me.

I know hope is obviously the best option, and if that is all you can think of then what type of Hopes?

Thanks H

Those levers are very flexey, someone posted a thread on these a while ago. I'd get and avid or shimano lever or if you get hopes get a hope mono trial or a tech trial brake. Shimano saints are very good as well if you don't wanna get a hope.

Just found that topic. Problem solved! those levers will not be touching the new build hahahaha, the video on there is shocking, they flex loads, and on a trials bike :S Thanks for that.

Any views on the old style Hope Mono Minis??

Avids are very good brakes I must say , my friends bb7 is the most powerful front brake I have ever used but personally I have never been on a bike that felt nice to ride using a rear cable disk , it just doesn't feel right. Personally I would get some trial zones or tech trials or a mixture. I really liked having the adjustability of the tech trial.

I ran dual BB7's on my hydroxx a few years ago, did the job but wasnt fantastic as above posted the rear cable is so long it feels a bit naff(er). They will do the job though, don't be put off by this!

They leak. All the time.

no they don't, we'll mine doesn't anyway. bite and hold is amazing, I run a 180mm rotor on mine, and the lever shape is perfect for me. better than any hope I've had. as I said before, proper brick wall brakes

get a set of shimano deore 2012 disc's, they need a little grease on the rear of the pad to stop the horrible noise they make when the pads move, but they work awesome!

I was gunna ask what you thought of them mate. I know you didn't use them for all that long... but you reckon there okay. (there so cheap so a good buy i guess) I've been thinking of buying the deores and doing some changing around, ending up with the deores on my xc race bike and a set of Hayes Stroker trail brakes on the Rockman!! Think this is what im gunna do. So i'll let you know how it all goes

And expect a build thread of this bike soon!

i still have the front on, the only reason i didn't used the rear for long, was because the disc hit the frame on my limey frame, and it did my tits in.
