trialsiain
Hi what is the most powerful front disc brake ?
Jake.
Most hopes are super powerful, slap a 200mm rotor on it
Rusevelt
Nothing on the market at the mo, comes close to Shimano Saints. And you don't even need to run a big rotor to get big bite performance. Edited July 20, 2012 by Rusevelt
dann2707
Bb7 must be up there right?
shercofray
hope tech evo v2... In my opion, not tried a saint so cant comment..
trialsiain
what will the trial zone be like compared to my hope tech x2 (the normal mtb one)
N.Wood
There isn't one 'most powerful' really, in that bite / hold / set up / environmental conditions all come into play. Saints, BB7s, Hope Mono Trials are all good enough for trials. 160 / 180 rotor for mods, 180 / 200 for stock. Can't go too far wrong with any of them, try one and see how you like it. Between those 3 they each have their plusses and minuses.
bing
shimano saint, hope tech m4, or Magura gustav m for complete overkill. but saints for the win, specially on a mod. ask rob poyser or the guy who owns trials addict.
Alex Dark
All the hopes ive had have been pretty underwhelming. The best brake ive had ( and have now ) is either an avid bb7 with a 185 rotor on a stock, or a front magura with coust pads
SamKidney
A well set front magura has to be one of the best options for out right hold and bite. Although a well set BB7 is a serious contender when set properly. Mr. Tunnicliffe runs his to great effect.

SamKidney
Saint,BB7/5,formula one/RO... Those things are insane! If the price was a little lower I think they'd be very popular with us trialz boiz.
ooo
I guess BB7 probably aren't that powerful compared to really expensive hydraulic disc brakes, but their ease of adjustment means that in reality you can quickly set them up to run consistently in any environment. I find them far better than hydraulics for that reason, I can always run them at their maximum effectiveness.
Laurence--Trials
I'd have a guess and say this, my front brake: Shimano Saint on a 203mm rotor.
TRIAL-bike-MATT
I use the hope trial zone, has an amazing bite and hold, thats only with a 160 rotor, put a 180 or 200 on and im sure it would be even better. But everyone has different opinions and setups so i cant see there being a specific 'most powerfull brake'.

Yeah, you can get them cheaper now though as they were replaced by new flagship RO,but I think there was problem with caliper leaking when used for trials I would still prefer saint as I don´t care too much about the weight and like the design of it.Also, you can get one brand new for less than 85pounds here. BradJohnson
Shimano Deore 2012 or a Shimano Saint.
Kenny--Trials
I found that BB7s really depend on what disc you are running. Ive had 4 different discs (with the same sintered pads) on the front and only 2 of them really worked well. Ive had the 160 mm avid one but i didnt think much of that, a 160mm echo one which worked well after it had finally bedded in, a 160mm hope trial rotor which was even worse than the avid and im now running a 180mm aztec wave which is the best rotor ive had by a long shot. Burglarboycie
Outside of the world of trials it is easily the tech m4. Had them on my DH bike, rediculous power!! And i was a serious DH rider. Total overkill for trials though!!!!

bing
There isn´t such a thing as overkill in trials in terms of power of brake. have you ever ridden a bike with a gustav m on the front? I have, and riding into a brick wall is probably less effective, such is the bite and power. nowt I've ever tried even comes close
