stunt man t
my DDG Shooter was stolen in March 2011. The other day i seen the bike last weekend in the bike shop as they were replacing the pedals for the person who was on it...... It had bin resprayed but i new it was a Shooter because of the welded piece between the headtube/steerer tube/down tube area, i asked him if it was a shooter and he said yeah, then he turned the bike around and i saw the 'Blackspire chain tensioner on the cranks and i new it was mine straight away as you never see a ddg with that chain system in the same area.... i looked closer and it had the same wheels asweel as mine, but the forks were different, the tyres were different and so were the stem and bars and brakes. i said to someone who works at the shop 'im sure thats my bike', he said they have bin doing it up for him bit by bit, i said the forks were different and they said they had changed them....i asked if they were orange rock shoxs before he said they were painted black but sure they were orange underneath, then i saw him changing the pedals and i said are those pedals your taking off 'gusset's' and they said yes! i couldnt do anything because i was on my own and these guys looked hard and wouldnt let me just take it back BUT THEN...... The bike turns up on Gumtree? so i rang the police and they recalled the incedent and told me to see a police officer which i have done and wait for them to contact me.. this is what it did look like and what it looks like now what do you think??? i no its probably gone now as it can go quick off gumtree... i said to the police 'why dont you meet them take it off them and impound it till you sort out the investigation? i can get the bike shop to confirm the parts they tuck off were the parts in the photo?? but they said its not that easy? i just thought id put it to you all and see if you think its mine or not? J.KYDD
DDG Shooters were massivly popular in Nottingham for some reason. R+R bikes still get people in asking for them If that is your bike then someone has gone to the trouble of changing: Forks Stem Bars Saddle Seat post Rear Mech Rear Brake + removed the front Tyres This is going to make proving the frame, wheels and chain device are yours almost impossible unless you've got a frame number
danrobinson
yes i think its yours, go to the bike shop and ask them to give you the bike id number and see if it is yours did you register the bike with the police?

danrobinson
you carn't prove anything without the frame number.
trials hoe
unfortunatly 'knowing' somethings yours doesnt mean legal ownership, its what you can prove. even with a frame number youd need proof of purchase ie. a recipt with your name on it ect. it bullshit the way the police work, but thats how it is. have you tried contacting gum tree and explaining the situation? they may suspend the ad if your lucky. hope you get a happy conclusion mate, i f**king hate theives!!! Miss-Higgy
Ask the guy who riding it where he got it from? Or give him a slap and take it back, if he's a massive guy get someone else to slap him for you..

danrobinson
with all my bikes i have smart water on them and there registered with the police so if they do get stolen the police bring it back to me when they find it should register all your bikes Ask the guy who riding it where he got it from? Or give him a slap and take it back, if he's a massive guy get someone else to slap him for you.. what an amazing idea why didnt i think of that next time you see the f**ker on your bike drop kick him off it and ride off on YOUR bike before he has a chance to get up and hit you back
Jake.
If you got a hidden camera and you confronted the bloke asking where he got it from and stating every single part you knew he'd replaced and he ran off without saying anything he clearly stole it. You could then show that video to the police and they may think its enough evidence (I hope?). But they'll probably bullshit and want a receipt anyway.
