aener
What looks horrible about them ? The angle it puts the riders wrists at. People with bars that far forwards also look really "laid out" - as in - parallel to the floor, which looks as if it makes being on two wheels a real hassle. A good example of this was the comp footage posted not long ago. Everyone else was fine when they got on to the skinny beams and had to roll along them, but Jack Carthy looked very uncomfortable and quite unstable. Granted, I've not tried bars like that for a period long enough to really get used to them, but it both hurt my wrists, and I felt my weight was distributed in all the wrong places. Edit: Forgot to say - that really was "some decent mod riding". That was a highly apt topic name! Edited July 18, 2012 by aener

When bars are back the wrist has to bend to the side alot unless you have really wide shoulders Even more so when your right over the front wheel. And as he tends to spend most of his time with his body right over the bars it's going to work out best And you can't really say just because jack looked a bit all over the shop in his first comp of the highest level in one of the first sections means its bad Did you not see the final results? Nor the the results from Belgium ? May as well just say Gilles in shit because he's got his bars pointing down now? Since when does it matter how it looks ? Trials bikes don't have seats how strange does that look? Iv tried my bars back and forwards and ended up with them pretty far forwards, but some of that bar position is to gain some reach etc.. We can just agree to disagree on this as we both have different views
aener
Good god! Over-reaction much? I was commenting that it makes riding on two wheels look very uncomfortable, and that for the short time I tried it I really didn't like it. I didn't even IMPLY having bars like that should be illegal and everyone who does it should be shot, as it sounds like you think I said outright. I never said it didn't work, either! Competing at such a high level, the only reason people would do it if they didn't like it would be a massive shout for attention, and it's probably not that, seeing how much he already gets. Honestly - you're more touchy than someone who rides an Inspired having just been told he's a BMXer!
SamKidney
It is just preference really, but I agree with Flipp. I've ridden Carthy's bike with the bars set as so, and on the rear wheel its really pleasant, you just stand there and makes certain static moves a doddle. But rolling along thing's and balancing on two wheels became much more of a challenge. It's whatever floats your boat really. Equally, Ive had a little play on Flipp's old Marino, with the bars set much further back and that overall was a nicer feel. Two wheel control and found it didnt really hold me back going up things, even with my limited skill in brakeless. Dave Anscombe
Who gives a toss about bars. Some people gain from having them forwards 'Others dont! to me it looks weird as f**k ! and makes a bike look ugly! To people like gilles and jack it could make all the differenceWho gives a toss about bars. Blake
Having bars that far forward only feels good for sidehopping to rear wheel, everything else feels like turd, even staying on the wall after you've gone up it is hassle. I understand having bars a little further forward than some of the street lads but there is a limit. //Basher4lyf

aener
prove it ! There are innumerable ones you could argue against... We are limited by the law, but you could say if you wanted it enough you'd find a way around it. Limited by financial status in reality, but in an optimist's mind that's surmountable (even though it's not). (etc. forever.) Things you can't argue against, there's physics. We are limited by gravity. We are limited by the speed of light. We are limited by time. Can't fit through a hole smaller than your skull. (etc. etc. etc.) Biology: You can't go longer than a handful of minutes without oxygen. Can't live without blood. Need nutrition to survive... (etc. etc. etc.) Seriously - the list of limitations other than the ones we set ourselves is endless. Edit: Holy off-topicness! Hahaha.
