LauraPalmer
I´ve just got a second hand Echo Pure SL frame with a ti bb-spindle. It´s half a year old and I´m not sure wether to trust it or not - do they hold up? Any people here who have broken one - if so please tell me about time of usage, your weight and riding style..? Any answer from people with first hand experience would be very much appreciated.
Greetings
My friend who competes in the worlds' broke a few, I've been running one since roughly mid last year and it's fine but then I'm a smooth rider. Echo titanium is definitely not as strong as you might expect it to be but it's fine if you don't go big.
forteh
It should be a load stronger than the stock cromo one, but as mr inur said, the grade of titanium that echo uses doesnt seem to be up to much. Most titanium components are made from 6al4v titanium which is far stronger than cromo (frames are typically 3al2.5v because of better working and easier welding characteristics - I believe tritons were/are made from Ot4 titanium which I think is about equivalent to 3al2.5v).
