Radfest Bike Festival 2013

I honestly can't think of much to change 2012 was so good.

The riding was amazing, Only thing i can think of is set things out differently maybe a few different zones.

A few more stalls would of been handy too, like Tarty, 'cause the have a wider range of parts and clothing.

Only thing i can dig really was the night entertainment, a band or something would have been good,

or a few stupid games, when everyone was drunk.

I have been every year so far, and I'm not planning on not going to next year!.

Lets hope I don't have the hassle I did from last year and buy tickets at the last second haha.

But Jack just a suggestion, you should have a pay on the day option as I thought and had seen many people that did not go because they brought their ticket to late.

They did have a pay on the day

They did have a pay on the day

I think that's only on the day riding though, not for camping. But having to pay in advance is the only way of organising these things were there is limited numbers. The field for camping will only fit so many people, it's not worth risking having way too many people turn up on the day and not be able to camp.

Hey Jack, just split this topic from 2012 to keep things tidy. WIll remove this post shortly! (free bump)

Cheers dude. Glad you helped me out with the topic.

A few more stalls would of been handy too, like Tarty, 'cause the have a wider range of parts and clothing. Only thing i can dig really was the night entertainment, a band or something would have been good, or a few stupid games, when everyone was drunk.

Last year and this year Tartybikes and others had the opportunity to get involved and for what ever reason it did not happen.

If anyone has thoughts on companies no matter how small or how big they are it would be great to know them all so they all get invite for promoting, selling and meeting their customers face to face.

We had so many logistic to deal with because of cancelations. Last years band had to be cancelled due to the drummer being far too good at what he does and getting signed up to a label with another band. The other was another Band that had some hiccups and split up. Which then led me to a last minute DJ situation from 2 great people that stepped in and helped out massively and then humidity decided to make the speakers sound like they had loads of reverb on them so they could not be played to loud on the saturday. Plenty of time this year to make things good though. Will try hard to get a real good band in. ;)

No. What i meant was if it's the exact same set out next year we will know what to expect.

Also, you should have an extra day, 2 days wasn't enough i didn't want to go home.

Im still lost? Your after diffrent sections/zones??

So, Tyres, sleepers, cotton reels, boxes, rocks, pipes, logs, metal boxes..., Correct me if im wrong, i might be..i was there about an hour ago...Are they not all diffrent zones?? Am i reading this wrong??

LOTS of hard work goes in to get this stuff for all you people to ride..and people still find something to moan about..amazing!

2 days wasnt long enough?? People where there first thing friday morning...so they had 3 full days riding.

Also...Your MORE than welcome to come down any weekend ( and camp )...It is open other weekends, other than radfest.

My suggestion Joe, is to ignore him :P As Dave mentioned, you could of rode there every hour for the whole event and still have been able to find new lines. I had an awesome time at Radfest this year, and would like to thank you, Jack and everyone else involved with the event. I hope that next year's event will be just as successful (Y)

I live in Middlesbrough.

It's not as easy as just come and ride on a weekend.

Have to pay £155 for a train £30 quid for a taxi, and pay for food and drink, it's an expensive weekend thats why i was saying an extra day would of been great,

also i missed half of the friday through travelling, and had to leave early on the sunday, because i needed to catch my train home.

I think he means that he wants the layout of the zones to be in a diffrent order, it changes around alot so 'people' are not riding the same lines over and over again! I bet all the people at Radical Bikes change it whenever they feel like, to keep things new.

Finally someone with some sence.

AHHHHH, i understand what you mean now hahaha, sorry you didnt really explain what you were saying.

Ok yer, i get you..but your missing something.. In a years time...you will be better, you will come back, do lines that you struggled with this year, and then then do bigger better lines, that you wouldnt of bothered looking at or tryed this year.

As for new sections, yes i presume there will be a few more bits to ride, as Mick, is always looking for ways to improve the place and give more choice of what to ride on BUT..Please remember, This takes time and effort, and also MONEY. Money, that really isnt there to be honest. Do you think the guys are sitting at home now throwing £50 notes around there front room, from all the people that paid for radfest?? No. I can garentee you this...for the time and effort involved, im sure they'd rather not bother and have an easy life. After all of the outgoing costs, they really dont make a great profit.

The box section, that was new for this year, I wont lie, it must of had about 60 hours of work put into it. Transport, Construction, Stability, Painting, Gripping. ( and litrally only a handful of people helped..Could count the amount of people on 1 hand ) Please remember, the centre is only open at weekends, and everyone involved has a 9-5 job, monday-friday, and then at weekends, they bust there gut to make an even better place for everyone to ride.

People who just come along, and say..'ahh i want better stuff next year' , i think are abit disrespectful. I don't understand how anyone could be dissapointed. I ride there, 2-3 times a week, and im not bored of the place... every time i go there, i find a new line to ride. Can you say that about your local riding spot?? Do you find a new spot everytime you ride? No, you ride the same old wall/flowerpot/bench, continuously.

I live in Middlesbrough.

Ok, yes youve travelled along way..I understand that..You came by train..the most expensive form of transport..excellent, then got a cab..second most expensive form of transport excellent..( Thats not our fault? )Surely a car full of people and bike rack would of been much cheaper option, when the petrol is split.

Food and drink?? Well yes, are you telling me you dont pay for food and drink, anywhere else you go?? Ha.

Am i being harsh?? No, im being a realist and someone who passionate about a sport and a location that is there for TRIALS RIDERS TO ENJOY! The guys that run it, arnt doing this to line there pockets. There doing it, to make a great facility for trials riders to ride.

This i getting out of hand, as i said in the first post i honestly can't think of much to change 2012 was so good,.

Jack asked for idea's so i give him idea's, I'm not trying to slate Barrow Farm, or say it isn't good enough, cause its an amazing place, and i appreciate what everyone has done to get the place to where it is today.

I'm not trying to say, 'Barrow Farm's Sh*t cause there isn't enough to ride' that was genuinely my only advice to make the place better, cause it's already so good.

Also now you mention it, we will all be better, and will be riding harder lines so it makes no real difference.
