isitafox
Does this tend to happen as there's a creak coming from the bottom bracket area on my Inspired and I've tightened the BB well up and greased everything?? Can only put it down to the cranks wearing on the splines so effectively stopping me getting them tight enough?
bing
it'll be the cranks dude. can't see a steel shaft wearing before ally cranks. if you have had em off quite a few times, they are probably worn. are you running bb spacers? might be coming from them. that's what is was on mine. swapped them for metal ones and grinted it right up. creaking stopped. got my username changed, I'm still the same old chandler Edited July 5, 2012 by bing
isitafox
BB spacers?? Do you mean like the little sleeves that go over the axle and sit between the crank arm and the bearing? The cranks are 2nd hand Echo Urban ones which were in exceptional condition when I bought em which is why I was a little confused.
monkeyseemonkeydo
Definitely BB and not pedals? Any play in the BB bearings?
isitafox
Hmm, will give them a tighten up to see. I hope that's the cause as I can't afford to buy any new cranks or BB as of yet!

isitafox
Aye another route to look at, will get the pedals checked out then if still no luck I'll get the BB faced
N.Wood
I've found creaks coming from my rear axle/snailcams/axle bolts before which can seem to be from the bb as it happens under load. Worth checking if you run out of ideas.
dave33
what bb is it? check the cups are tight
bike_dummie
Every thing greased as ive found that can stop alot of my bikes creaks, clicks and ticks? Could it be the sleeve like thing that holds the cups in your bb together starting to crack/split as i know from experience that it will start to make a creaking noise? Was there a clicking/ticking noise before the the creak appeared if so that's even more reason to check the sleeve bit.
isitafox
It's just a standard Onza BB that comes with a zoot, I took it all apart the other week and checked it all over then liberally greased everything. Gonna have another look tomorrow and see what I can find.
