LEON
Right, I bought a used 2011 HS33 and had to change the hose, so the brake has no fluid in it, I've read a billion topics on the "easy bleed system" and can't seem to find a definite answer on how to bleed these brakes the best. Ideally I wanna use phat fluid, but until I have some....is water gonna damage it at all? It's used & I have no manual, and I suppose no leak warranty. Do I need 2 syringes? I don't like change, so I'm struggling to come to terms with the fact that this "easy bleed" brake can't be bled easily. trials owns
Water wont hurt it (Only after long periods), Bled a 2011 last week and seems all good! Same as a standard hs33 to bleed but take the plug out of the lever and undo the hose into the lever by three threads so it lets water through. (btw this is bath bleed method) Edited June 27, 2012 by trials owns
LEON
Ok, is there a certain position I need the lever in? Also, when undoing the hose barrel 3 threads....it just twists up my hose so I'd need to take the lever off, I've always used bleed kits & never a bath so I'm not clued up on that. So when I push fluid in through the slave...where does it come out?
dave33
Water will f**k it up after a couple of weeks. Depends how often you ride Bleed it from the salves up take the levers off and hold it so the hole is vertical and at the top Don't worry about 3 threads just undo it until you can push fluid out. Keep pushing until no air, do it back up, tap the hose and slaves while keeping the lever up, then bleed a bit more fluid out that should get the last bit of air out
Pete.M
Water will f**k it up after a couple of weeks. Depends how often you ride Do the newer slaves have a problem with the pistons swelling? Just curious since I have a 2011 lever body attached to older slaves that has worked perfect on a water bleed for at least 8 months.
dave33
I personally have had 3 of the new style maguras and when I bleed them with water they all f**ked up and leaked like mad I thought I was just unlucky with the first pair, but no just the water Also every one else who used water I spoke to had same problem Do the newer slaves have a problem with the pistons swelling? LEON
Well I did it, I don't have 2 syringes so I let it flow out of the lever, seems a good bleed but it feels so much spongier than my old 04, even on water. It felt the same before the hose swap too, and the new "bled from the box" HS11 on a mate's bike feels very spongey too. Are they known for being not very stiff? dave33
No where near when compared, they are made of plastic after all Edited June 29, 2012 by dave33
LEON
Jesus. Why do they insist on making them worse every time they revise them? I could understand for the HS11, but the 33....seriously?

dave33
new manufacturing technique used thats why its gotta be plastic, they probly dont considder trials use when in the design ? some one should get in contact with magura and help develop a trials version? Jesus. Why do they insist on making them worse every time they revise them? I could understand for the HS11, but the 33....seriously? Are they known for being not very stiff? could it be that your frame is flexing?... what booster do you have? My new Zona Frame flexes way more than my old Koxx one even with the booster
LEON
no. my brake was absolutely solid with an 04 lever. and the lever is all that's changed. every new brake I've felt is very flexy at the lever. so it must be that.
