VAMPIRE V12
Hey guys. How do you know if your carbon bars are cracking? I've got a set of carbon onza risers and it looks like a crack running underneath the left riser its about half way around and looks like the woven material have gaps in them if you see what i mean it looks like they have lifted up compared to the others. Also its like a thick laquer thats on the bars i think thats where the crack has started from but i dont know how far it goes into the carbon bars. I will post a pic up in a min, any thoughts? Cheers guys
liam n
those bars aren't carbon they're alloy, which has been carbon wrapped
VAMPIRE V12
sorry about that i was trying to describe where its cracking if you get me, i'm just worried now incase they snap as my state of mind plays a big part in my trials :/
liam n
well you're not going to be able to tell unless you see the aluminium, the carbon/laquer is probably just cracking

N.Wood
Could be fine, but if that was me... f**k that shit. Change them while you still have teeth, its not worth it. Buy some Trialtechs off here for £20 or something man.
VAMPIRE V12
thats what i was thinking N.Wood, like i say my state of mind plays a lot and all i could hear in my mind today as i was gonna drop off something it (there gonna snap) :/
AdamR28
They bars are about 80% aluminium with a thin carbon wrap. The carbon is stiffer, so when the bars flex it cracks the carbon, but the aluminium is totally fine. From a professional point of view I have to say they need changing - from a personal point of view, that is totally normal and they will still last for ages unless you are going huge. Pretty much every set did the same and I haven't heard of a set breaking.

AdamR28
That should have said 'these bars', oops! And by that I mean the Onza Caron Risers from a few years ago, not the Trialtech/Try-All/Rockman etc bars.
Mark W
Pretty much every set did the same and I haven't heard of a set breaking. Although I guess a few people - me included - might have done this to their bars then decided not to use them on the off-chance I guess. I know my 28~" wide ones went like that, but my 30" ones definitely showed more signs of cracking than that before I stopped using them. TROYston
On the subject or Carbon bars cracking, Has anyone had any Try-all rockman .... carbon bars crack? Im going to get a pair soon and just wondering.
Mark W
I don't think we've had a set returned. Born had a batch of them that were sketchy before, but the 'real' bars have been fine
