N.Wood
So these new Hope mono trials 'pro' pads offer good performane in the dry. Does anyone elses go to shit in the wet? Any but of moisture makes ours (3 riders all on the same pads) sound super contaminated, loud as hell and not really work. They arn't contaminated with oil and are fine again when they dry out. Any one else?
AndrewEH1
I use it on my front disc of my Fourplay and haven't had a issues in any weather, I've only used it in light rain. Although my 'normal' pads on the rear disc recently went bad for some unknown reason so had to replace with a spare set of 'normal' ones. shercofray
Yeah my 'pro' pads went shit when they get any water/moisture on them. Really annoying, bought new ones and they did exactly the same! Can't really trust my brake now, and after spending £150 on a brake, i'm not that happy. SamKidney
Mine have been contaminated to shit and back and they still work in the wet and the dry. Try filing the surface of the pads and even possibly whacking on some new rotors. Then bed them back in and it should give the performance they advertise. Worked for me. Carlperkins
i got them, used them out the box in the dry and they were great i thought (i had a new rotor too so that may have been why) but then in the rain they went shit. and then when they dried out they werent anything special, so i guess they got contaminated. i just took them out and went back to standard pads. bagre15
I'm also having problems with the pro pads. It's impossible to compare them with the standard ones. The standard one worked waaaaaay better for me
ezgonzo
mine still work ok when there wet but they do lack bite, hold is still good though, the most annoying thing is the god dam noise that they make when wet and also for quite a prolonged period after, the noise does start to fade eventually though and they do start to regain there bite,

ginger allen echo
I used the 'pro' pads on the back for a few weeks after getting the Rockman and they just got worse and worse. The bite was appalling and hold wasn't up it either. So i gave the pads a clean and completely cleaned the disk and they were still crap. Wapped the standard mono trials pads back in and straight out from new the standard pads were 10 times as bitey and had big hold. Conclusion - Stick with the standard mono trial pads Edited June 12, 2012 by ginger allen echo
bagre15
Did anybody manage to solve the problems with 'pro' pads? I have two choices, I can run my shitty 'pro' pads or I can runsome old contaminated standard pads
SamKidney
Whack your standard pads in the oven at 200°C for 5mins, then boil them. When theyve cooled, run a file over them to get to some unused pad. Set up your brake and then bed it in. Pour clean water over the whole braking area, and pedal round as hard as you can while the brakes on, then repeat when thr waters dried off by pouring more water over it. This should remove any final contaminants. Continue until , if any, squealling stops and the brake bites and holds. Ive resurected 2 sets of pads this way, and they were more than good enough Edited June 12, 2012 by Echo Lite

SamKidney
The disc should be fine if its not contaminated
N.Wood
Great to see more fantastic well tested trials parts on the market, good job guys!
AdamR28
This is really strange - I have a couple of sets and Stan has some too, both of us have only experienced better braking than standard all the time. Mine are better in the wet than the standard ones too! Maybe they are more sensitive to contaminants? What rotors are you guys using? Azarathal
My pro pads are absolutely fine on an air filled mono trial with a 200mm hope trial rotor. It is an overkill rotor for a 24" but it's still more than good enough. Edit* I agree about the noise in the wet though. I tried it in the rotor that used to came with tech trial brakes, it wasn't good. I thought that the rotor may have been contaminated, so I changed for a kcnc rotor and the hold was still bad. Do you have any tip for me to make my brake better Adam? PS: You prbably will remember me, I'm the guy from Brazil that bought the hope pads from you Edited June 13, 2012 by bagre15
Matt Vandart
V2 pads are the same in the wet noisy as f**k
Rockman
PS. Don't cook or boil your pads as this can weaken the glue between the pad and backing which would then leave you with the pad being ripped off the backing, but I agree about the Pro pads, I bought Trialzone Rotors and the pads and I have never been happy with the brake.. Might have to spend MORE money on some standard pads so I can ride my bike when its slightly humid.
