tomturd
Anyone using either of these 2 services? I had Netflix for about 3 or 4 months, some fairly decent stuff on there, and there was always south park or the (american) office to fall back on if there was nothing else. For some reason, I switched to lovefilm (just to see what its like I guess), looking for the first time now it seems the selection is crap, mostly obsure films I've never heard of with poor ratings or shit like scary movie 2 - am I missing something? Are there any other decent streaming services that'll let me play films on my xbox easily? Don't mind paying as long as its not too much. TrialsIsHard
The people at Lovefilm are bastards from what I've experienced. Had to cancel my subscription 3 times before they stopped debiting my account each month!
Jake.
Lovefilm is a pile of crap, got it on my ps3 and BBC iPlayer/4oD is better and they're free.
tomturd
I've had problems with cancelling love film in the past too, but that was doing the dvds by post thing. I think I'm stuck with lovefilm for a while now - my girlfriend is on episode 3 of lost season one - the first time she's ever seen it :/ Been reading up about getting US netflix in the UK, seems like theres loads more stuff on the US version that we don't get over here
bikeperson45
I've never used either, I just want to say Scary Movie 2 is the best Scary Movie and amazing generally.
tomturd
Ha, maybe I'll give it a watch some time based on your recommendation. I have high expectations now
TrialsIsHard
I've had problems with cancelling love film in the past too, but that was doing the dvds by post thing. They have a clever system of sending you out DVD's the second they receive one back from you, so when you try and cancel they claim to have 'already sent the DVD to you' so you have to pay next months fees. That DVD may not have even have been picked up to send to you, it's still 'already posted'.

Muel
Scary Movie 2 is the best Scary Movie That's like saying Hitler was the best dictator based on the success of his regime. Doesn't mean he wasn't a massive pile of shit.
tomturd
That's like saying Hitler was the best dictator based on the success of his regime. Doesn't mean he wasn't a massive pile of shit. You lose They have a clever system of sending you out DVD's the second they receive one back from you, so when you try and cancel they claim to have 'already sent the DVD to you' so you have to pay next months fees. That DVD may not have even have been picked up to send to you, it's still 'already posted'. That is exactly what they did to me a few years ago. If you don't cancel like 30 days in advance they pretty much gaurentee that you'll spend another month with them. This time I got £15 cashback with quidco and a one month free trial. As long as I remember to cancel it before the 30 day trial is up I should get my own back.
JT!
Been reading up about getting US netflix in the UK, seems like theres loads more stuff on the US version that we don't get over here Netflix in the USA is taking off bigtime. My instant queue is about 200 movies long now.
Tomm
Yeah I keep hearing Netflix has a much bigger library in the US. The films can be a bit lacking sometimes but there's enough good tv on there to last me a while. I've almost finished watching 4 seasons of prison break, and I've got 24 lined up when that's finished. Suspect ill stay with Netflix for a little while longer at least. I like the way it syncs nicely between my laptop/Xbox and puts you back where you left off, too.
isitafox
I think Netflix is great, some really good non mainstream stuff on there that I love and some quality TV shows. Also enjoy the foreign film section as there's loads of films I'd never even consider watching before, they just need to get some good quality late 80's/early 90's anime on and it'll be perfect for me. Also a winner for the kids section which my son loves, loads of great kids films and tv shows to watch though we generally seem to watch Thomas The Tank Engine! Muel
You lose What a ridiculous theory... As time goes on the probability of any subject you can think of being mentioned will approach 1. If it didn't then we'd never run out of things to talk about, but we do. That's just a basic observation, just like "the longer time goes on the more likely it is that you will die". Dwarf Shortage
Got Netflix free 30 day trial last month and then forgot to cancel it before it was up, definitely wouldn't pay for it willingly, there's a poor selection of films, with like one good film to every 100 awful ones. Worth getting the free trial just for Battle Royale, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas though.
Rich J
Does any of the money from subscriptions go to the shows you watch, royalty type thing?
kaybs41282
Just signed up to Netflix free trial and the tv shows alone look amazing.... Rocking it through the Wii too!
tomturd
Does any of the money from subscriptions go to the shows you watch, royalty type thing? Its all above board so I suspect netflix pay the distributors.. in fact, some googling http://www.quora.com/How-much-does-Netflix-have-to-pay-in-royalties-for-instant-streaming-movies http://gigaom.com/video/did-netflix-pay-too-much-for-epix-content/
JT!
I don't think it'll work by X amount per view. Netflix will pay a massive amount to a a company, lets say for example Viacom, and then they'll allow them to rent their shows/movies on DVD, or to watch instantly. Dwarf Shortage
Another plus for Netflix, just rung up as my account was charged twice for one month, extremely helpful, sorted almost instantly, woman on the phone had a lovely voice as well :$ EDIT: Trying LoveFilm out next though as I get a £20 amazon voucher for doing so, winning!
