isitafox
Gonna construct a headset press tomorrow out of some threaded rod and wondered if someone could advise me on what size washers I'll need to fit the cups on the headset? Asking now so I don't have to mess about taking the forks and stuff off my bike and so it'll be ready for building up my new frame on Thursday. CalopS
Any size that fits over the cup and around the rod nicely will do. Could even drill/cut some bits of wood up so there snug around the rod and wont scratch your headset cups.
bing
I've got a piece of m12 threaded bar, and two pieces of 50x50x10 flat steel plate with a hole drilled through the middle. works fine for me and cost nowt after I got my old mans mate to make it for me
Skoze
As said above, bigger the better really - as long as it covers everything you're all good. You could get pro like me and make a section in the centre to fit fairly snug inside the top and bottom cups with a hole drilled through the middle where the threaded bar goes to keep it all straight. That combined with big 5mm thick washers and dirty great nuts handles things pretty nicely.
