SamKidney
Dont know how many of you are into this kinda thing, would be interesting to see if you are and what you've done/ are doing. Its something I did masses of around 4 years ago, literally around 40 Aeroplanes. Picked one up from the hobby/ craft shop today caus' it was cheap and had a go to see if I could still do it to the standard I could when I was 12. The paints supplied with the kits really are awful. Compared with the old tinned enamel Humbrol paints the Airfix kits came with before Hornby bought them out of bankruptcy they're horribly watery. Wished Id bought the original paints seperate and had a much nicer smoother finish without the need for around 3 layers before the paint doesnt look streaky. Here's the result of an evenings craft! Supermarine Spitfire MkVB. Got a Bf109f4 to be finished tomorrow too Edited June 3, 2012 by Echo Lite 09
Revolver
I have a corvette stingray model that's half done, but it's a bit of a nuisance so I haven't finished it, since last summer. I should finish it...
Topsy
Same here. I tried to do atleast 1 car every year. Now one's standing around since 1.5 years (or even more?) waiting to be painted. Problem is, I love building things together, but don't really like painting it. Only exception would be airbrushing, but I can't afford a air compressor. Actually fancy doing a Lotus 97T now. Need to look for one
forteh
Ive got a 1:48 A10A Thunderbolt II to build, just got to get off me arse and start painting the fiddly bits before I can put it together!
SamKidney
WW2 Era aircraft are the the best to build I had a 1:27 Supermarine Seafire that I started, and then was broken after being knocked off the cabinet. Got my eye on a 1.27 Focke Wulf FW190 D9. Oh, I decided to press on with my 109, + Bar a few transfers and the radio areal, its looking goood. forteh
Agree they're more fun to build but I've always loved the A10 and as I'm currently learning to fly one in DCS A10C with a full replica joystick, I thought I would pick up a kit to build and hang above the pc on strings

Little Yoshi
Will stick a pic up of what I got then. For anyone in the know its about 5k worth of Ogre Kingdoms.
RobinJI
Yeah it counts If its plastic, has to be glued and painted then fire away :') Do these count then They're plastic (well glass-fiber reinforced plastic), glued together, and they need painting In fact all the bodywork other than the windscreen surround will be GRP in the end. On a more relevant note, I used to be pretty into it and had a fair few WW2 planes, I've still got a Lancaster somewhere. I've got a few mostly finished cars that I need to finish off sometime too. ManxTrialSpaz
What's the deal with painting them? Is best to paint before or after assembly? I can remember making a few planes and a car when I was younger, but never got around to changing them from being grey And I've got a Tiger tank at home waiting to be put together, but I don't really have the right equipment at the moment. Are there any decent starter kits with a sharp knife, paint brush etc? Edited June 3, 2012 by ManxTrialSpaz

Are there any decent starter kits with a sharp knife, paint brush etc? Depends on what you're building. Some you can paint after building them, some you have to paint before. I don't have a clue about starter kits but for basic glue, knife, paintbrushes and paint won't cost you more than £20. I was gonna start a thread like this but I didn't think it would get much attention... I've done some recently. Here's a few photos of finished ones and work in progress ones. Also got a NSX and Porsche 961 to build as well. I'm interested in getting some aircrafts and tanks too, never tried those, then maybe some motorbikes and boats after that. Current WIP, GTO Twin Turbo. Basic out of box build, wider exhaust ends. The RX-7 I finished the other day. The F50 I finsihed a few weeks ago. No fancy engine details. With the RX-7. And a Gundam for those who knows what they are. Have another in progress, no shots. Edited June 3, 2012 by weirdoku
LukasMcNeal
I've just remembered what I built when I was younger! It was a B17 Flying fortress, it was awesome took me and my brother months and it was massive! Also built a F117 night hawk that was a bit shit though as the stealth fighters body is mainly one piece Oh I'll do a little pic build thread for here when the Rafale arrives after holiday
ManxTrialSpaz
The F50 I finsihed a few weeks ago. No fancy engine details. Fuuuark. Pretty sick detailing and finish on those. That RX-7 looks almost real. I bet you could get people(women) thinking it's your real car on fb.
SamKidney
That F50 looks amazing. I think Im going to have a crack at a large B17, B25, B29 or F4U Corsair. I love the look of American aircraft. Radial engines just look right.
