williams
Would a 160mm Giant mph hydralic disc brake be good on the front? I have one laying around, and i suppose it's better than my 180mm mechnical onza disc brake? The brake is around 2-3 years old now, but I haven't used the brake that much. Thanks! Lewis Gething
Why don't you just put it on your bike and try it if you already have it lying around?
williams
Why don't you just put it on your bike and try it if you already have it lying around? Because I have to take my grips off, remove the disc, put on the new disc, put on the new brake and slide the grip on again. Unnecesarry hassle if it suck balls anyway. williams
So i tried it now, I sanded the pads down and ran up and down a hill trying to bed the pads in with water. They felt pretty spongy.. and not much power, but I liked the lever

MagnusT
The giant mph is completely useless, in fact one of the weakest brakes I ever tried! Don't know the onza but my guess is that it is better......

Don't know the onza but my guess is that it is better...... Yeah they where pretty god damn bad! The lever blade felt nice though. The onza one is better. dunno, you bed it in? Yeah, I have sanded the brake pads down abit and poured some water on them, and ran down a hill dragging the brake. Still isn't THAT powerful... Any tips? Revolver
Is the onza caliper the one where both sides move? That seemed pretty good, I'd stick with that.

Alex Dark
The onza calipers when setup and not contaminated are nearing a BB7 in power on the bikes that i've used. On the downside the levers are manky and they're very fiddly to set-up satisfactorily. ( Try an avid lever if youve got the standard onza one, something like an SD7 or sd5

I Think a giant Brake Would Work Good! Nah it worked, but didn't had enough power in my opinion. It might be better with a new bleed and new organic pads but it's not worth the hassle
