CalRobbo341
Trying to do a bit of a budget build and I don't really want to spend £10 on Tarty for 2 headset cups, as postage prices have gone up, it will be a very tight budget. So I know people use an old seat tube to get headset cups out of a frame, is there another free way? Same with fitting a headset. Do people still use the block of wood and a vice way, or is there another way, or would it just be best to send the cups to Tarty and have them fit it along with the BB? Help appreciated
Revolver
You can get a headset out with a long screwdriver and a hammer.

N.Wood
You can make a headset press out of some threaded bar, 2 nuts and 2 big washers.
dann2707
I did mine today with just a vice on its own. Worked really well. Could also use a G clamp too with a bit of wood or something. To get mine out I rested the frame on a block of wood and from the INSIDE of the headtube I put a long screwdriver down and hit it with a hammer. 2 or 3 hits later and it popped out. ogre
i fit my headset by losely fitting it by hand and twating the headtube downwards... but it's not the safest method. if you can, use a vice and 2 peices of wood, press in once cup at a time, making sure they are square, thats the best way without making a tool, otherwise a long length of threaded bar will work as mentioned above... be sure you're existing headset is compatible too
