Mod Or Stock-Progression

Do you feel nice on your stock?

I started riding in a mod, but all of a sudden I decided to get a 24" pure trials. I could go as big as I would on my mod, but it was to strange to ride on that bike, I lost all my style. The result of the change was that I disliked the 24" and went back to my mod.

It would be cool for you to try a different bike (mod), but it will be really strange in the begining. If you don't get used to the bike simply go back for a stock

Sorry for the bad english, since I'm from Brazil

ideally have a play with a few bikes, it's uncommon for riders to go back to a 20" after riding a 26", watson and tunnicliffe should prove stocks are great for going big. learning to go big is a combination of rider's power and solid grasp of technique. whats the spec like on your 26", the mad phases are fairly neutral geometry, you might want to consider a different frame with a more TGS geometry...

at this point i'll add i rode 20" for 2 years, then stock for a couple of years, and i've been on a 24" exclusively for just over a year now and i'm wanting to pick up a 20" cause i had a go on a new echo lite and could ride it better than any bike i've used before. if you've not been riding that long you'll find progression slow irregardless of wheel size... but if you've got the basics on a 26" you should be good to carry on...

If you feel happy on a stock then I'd say stick at it. Without trying a mod first you don't really know what kind of geometry to look for and it could become very costly. If you want to progress on stock then why not try going for something like an Onza Genesis?

My progression rocketed when I went to stock, literally in the space of days. They are ideal if you feel your being held back by smaller wheels. Im having to ride 20" for the mean time again, and I miss stock dearly.

I would say get a good Stock too, i improved reasonably fast when i moved from a mod to an echo 24 early last year, then rode mod after that broke from november til march, then got my new Limey4 and i have improved bucket loads again, big bikes are the key!

I've only ridden a stock once. I ride a MOD, and it felt soooo good to run a stock, I liked it more. The riding style get much nicer with a Stock too IMO and I haven't really seen anyone go BIG on a MOD. But I really wan't to try a 24" pure trials bike, try one if you can they might suit YOU better :) Remeber it's YOUR personal choice. :)

That guy is insane.

I think that I would go any bigger if I moved to a stock. The only thing that would get better is my up to front and maybe I would have more confidence in rail riding

Haha yeah he really is :)

yeah you might get better in that, but the one i tested felt small but still big... I think you might like it, I do even though I ride MOD. Really nice with Stock! :)
