Nice photo, Steph!

I haven't managed to capture lightning properly yet, it's still on my list of things to do!

Thanks ;-) For this picture I was hidden between a window ^^ Lot of lightening, catch with a 50mm, Canon 40D.

Yeah they're nice man, super sharp!

What camera / lens were you using?

Canon 5D MKII and a Canon 17-40mm L lens. Need to get myself a zoom lens for next time and get some different angles!

Hi Photography thread.

I've been restoring an Olympus OM10 over the last couple of days.

My Stepdads dad bought this camera new and was fastidious about keeping things in an ''as new'' condition, putting everything back in it's box and cleaning/lubricating after every use general weirdness. After he died a mysterious box of cameras was given to his sister, and they sat outside in the garage for almost 15 years.

I unfortunately don't have any pictures of the state that it was in when I got it, just because I was so excited about cleaning it up. I've got some afters though.

Previously the seals had become a bit ''gummy'' and the mirror was sticking, annoying.

The view finder was so dirty that you couldn't see the shutter speed.

Next I've got to sort out a Pentax ME Super (the one you can see through the view finder) however I think I'm just going to buy a K1000 to use the Pentax lenses, because there are some really nice lenses with just a bit of fungus that I can sort out.

I'm absolutely devastated...

I took my trusty Olympus Trip 35 to Peru with me, expecting some super juicy film loving. Like a total chump I dropped it at the airport on the way out and smashed the lens, the lens and zone based focus ring went all floppy. So I thought I'd run the rolls I had through it anyway and go from there.

Literally all of them turned out shit.

Which is a shame because there was some really good potential in them.

On the other hand, have some of these taken with my phone.

I've bought a Rollei XF35 to replace my Olympus Trip; I'll post more details when it arrives.

Worth installing Magic Lantern on it and keeping an eye on the sensor temperature if it's a hot day/you're doing long records?  It won't change much about it, but I guess you can keep an eye on it and if it starts creeping up you can turn the camera off for a little bit and open it up (e.g. memory card door) to let a bit of heat dissipate.  At least that way you're being ahead of it rather than having to react to it going "f**k you buddy" mid-clip.

@Mark W I think its too far gone, it flashed up a thermostat symbol and poo'd itself.

even if I fire it up from cold and start shooting it hits the 1min mark and dies. I'm guessing something has shorted on the board somewhere.

going to look for some error logs on ML.

Rollei is here.

I've wanted one of these for an absolute age!

I'm absolutely over the moon with it; I've already run 36 through it and I'll have those developed at lunch time.

Only criticism is it just feels SO cheap, I'm trying to compare it to my Olympus Trip 35 which is obviously a juggernaut of cheap camera ruggedness. But I can really feel that the Rollei IS going to break, one day. Kid gloves for this one!

Ah, downer - wasn't sure if it was just the usual hot day/filming in direct sunlight issue, but that does sound a little f**ked...

Rollei works.

I threw a roll of film in it and rattled off a roll to make sure it all felt nice and that the rewind and advance levers all operated. All seemed fine. Put a second roll in it, took one shot and gave it to my girlfriend and drove down the beach.13912905_1772929029588937_24485583202402

She's never taken a photo with anything other than an iPhone. So we rushed around for 15 minutes taking snaps and then drove straight to get them developed.

We did stop off to catch some Pokemon.

In short, the Rollei is a really good fun camera! It just feels like it's about to break all the time so needs treating with a bit of love.

I can't wait to use it properly :)
