Danny
Stop messing around with stupid water/meth injection then what brake pipe does it need?
Prawny Baby
the main one that goes across the front subby snapped when trying to remove a brake hose to get it MOT'd last month, So I rolled it back into the garage and closed the door
Tom Booth
You lazy gay. Get it sorted. I'm dying to get mine to mitp an hopefully combe.
Prawny Baby
I'll be at Combe with it, probably be my first show of the year The honest truth is, whilst it's epic fun and loads of character, it's just not fast enough these days!
Duncy H
Mini is getting picked up on saturday to get took to work and then the rebuild will commence Can't bloody wait! It looks likely to come down in my favor too, so i won't have to pay the excess, so with what i saved up to pay that, 10" conversion or new cones/springs and hi-los? Hmmm decisions. DrDoom
10" conversion, so I can buy your alloys for the vtec!
RobinJI
1 exam left of my Uni course, then I'll be moving back home on Saturday afternoon. Can't wait to start digging the mini out of it's pile of crap. Can't believe I've not worked on it for over 2 years now. Still, the plans are pretty much complete now, so progress should be as fast as my cash flow can allow. Speaking of cash flow, I may have a rather interesting Mini related (paid) project to do sometime soon. If I do it I'll stick some details/pictures up as I'm doing it if the owner doesn't mind. Edit, also speaking of 'the plans', this is where they're at now, (actually they're a bit further, but these are the most recent renders) can't wait to turn the digital models into reality: Edited May 17, 2012 by RobinJI
Duncy H
Robin, your cad images are absolutely awesome, nice skills.
Tom Booth
Looks slick robin, looking foward to progress on that. Bought my new fuse box today.. Let the progress commence!
Duncy H
Progress!! Stripped the front down at work today. No nasty really surprises so far, looks a bit rusty but i've gone over it with a mule skinner and wire wheel since and it's cleaning up nicely. I was shocked to see the front panel was not welded to the inner wings and at the join between the a panel and front wings there was bits of the old front wing where they had just welded a new front wing too it Think it's about time new cones were bought... Duncy H
Ha free lows with free crappy handling. I'm thinking red dot cones and hi los?
King C
Can't go wrong with red dot and Hi Lo's Tom, where'd you get that fusebox from?
Tom Booth
Looks good dunc, atleast with the front off you can check for nastiness now rather then it just appearing. King, was from vehicle wiring products. Wernt cheap but its a neat solution I think.
King C
Been looking for a neat solution for a while now and that looks pretty good. Not that expensive considering how much some of the wiring modules you can buy are.
Tom Booth
Yeah, for just a fuse box its preety pricey but its a smart bit of kit. Front looms made, just gotta connect the dots now really!
King C
Trying to stick to non engine conversiony things: I completed the build once and then decided I wasn't happy with the way things were done so I've stripped it completely and started again. This time with track action in mind. Some of you may have read this months Mini Magazine where I appeared in the "On The Job" section. For those that haven't read it (or if it isn't mentioned), heres a rough spec: Homemade tubular subframe F17 diesel box with cable shifter GSXR throttle bodies Megasquirt Split Exactions Yoko A032's Fully adjustable tie bars etc Ali race tank Flat boot floor Full weld in cage Fully cut out steel doors Tubbed arches Rear valance removed Mk2 escort pedal box Gaz adjustable shocks Cobra Monaco S' Parts: Shell: Custom Steering column pieces UJ's QR One Harness (prob passenger, might go for 5/6pt for driver) Blasted and sprayed my wheels at uni: Some of the old paint was real tough! Despite costing me £40 in materials, it was still cheaper than any quotes to get the professionally blasted and painted. Couple more goodies: I built up my rear hubs: With a drum: It looks like there won't be enough thread for my wheels and nuts but the studs aren't pulled through fully yet. They were just tapped in with hammer. Had some custom wheel nuts made and they came this morning: Also got a clear cambelt cover from Dan (Instant Custard) and some Supra Injectors (no photo): Also some new pieces for a sub project: Someone wanted some pics of my wheels so I may as well put them on here too: Right, bought some brakes and they sent me the wrong callipers: Sent them back and the postman brought me these this morning. Much better.... Edited May 22, 2012 by King C
Tom Booth
Looking good king, still on the Suzuki engine? I really want mine finished now. Miss the exciting raw drive.
King C
Yea. Uni has massively slowed progress but I've been buying and building certain bits here like front/rear hubs and wheels etc. Hoping to move to Bristol now that I've nearly finished and rent a lockup/garage to commence work again. RobinJI
I hadn't realised you're in Bristol, you should head along to Area 52 sometime.

Good times, yeah, I had my last one last Friday, it's a hell of a load off! Area 52's this weekend this month. You'll have to message Bruce (Mystery Machine) on Retro Rides if you wanted to come along though, the locations kept under wraps for obvious reasons. If not this month you'll have to make it sometime. Are you planning to attend Retro Rides Gathering?
