CurtisRider
Keep looking, that's guaranteed to be an absolute slag to sort. It's likely be be rotting at all the seams and unless you are particularly after a weldathon project/you will be cutting lots of it out for some mental project then it'll just be grief. Might be worth buying (for scrap money) as a parts donor, although I very doubt much on there is going to be particularly worthwhile reusing unfortunately. Keep your eyes peeled for something a bit more solid, you won't regret it! I've learnt my lesson buying rusty cars/vans haha Dunc, have you just replaced the wheel bearing each time? Might be worth changing the hub too, it may be distorted and the bearing isn't sitting true? Do you run the same wheel on that corner? Have you checked to see if the wheel is all good? Duncy H
I changed the hub, cv and bearing last time I did it, since I changed the bearing last i converted to ten inch wheels which were brand new from 13s. Bit puzzling.
CurtisRider
Oh, I can see why you are stumped then! Might be worth trying a different driveshaft incase thats a bit bent?
Duncy H
I put in a new bearing the other day, was obvious play in it so thought it would have done the job, drive to work. The noise had gone, on the way back it appeared again! It's not effected by braking or turning and is most obvious at slower speeds it is intermittent. Went to work on Saturday morning in the cold and it a screached like hell but nothing on the way back. Something tells me it has to be driveshafts, something at either end has got to have some grit/dirt in it me thinks. Going to strip them tomorrow morning. Don't want to spend any money on it though cause ill be taking it off the road anytime soon.
Duncy H
So today I took both driveshafts off, stripped and regreased them. One of the boots on the cv was missing a cable tie so it may have allowed some dirt to get in. I checked the cvs range of movement and it wasn't bad but going from top to bottom it was a bit notchy. So I guess that could be at fault (I thought knackered cvs made a knockin sound though.) Since putting it back together the noise has quitened but still noticeable. Fingers crossed a new cv will sort it out.

Danny
Get on with it Tom then. What's the crack with yours at the moment?
Tom Booth
I really really want a new floor in mine, its not particularly bad, just patchy. Want.d a few changes to it aswell. A local classics specialist was supposed to come fetch it September. He was gonna do it for me in return for fitting his kitchen worktops and a few restored dashboards/trims for his old austin but he never fetched it and paid me for the work instead, as it stands I've got other stuff I'd rather put that kind of money into so its on hold. King C
So it's your own fault really
Tom Booth
Ha, pretty much. I could put it on the road now as it is as its not rotten, just patchy an I know it'll bug me so I'd rather hold out an get it done. Fancy a colour change too but I think that can wait till I get my hands on a pre tax shell.
Duncy H
Anybody else get loads of crappy mini themed gifts for crimbo/birthdays all the time? Anyway, mini is off the road now. Started dismantling it yesterday. Engine is on the way to coming out. Still not sure about a series or bike engine.

Danny
Remember the mini clubman in the longbridge tunnels?Well come guys managed to get it out:https://www.facebook.com/groups/179852662155025/?fref=tshttp://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/239237-longbridge-tunnel-mini/He's saying its the 'last mini to leave longbridge' which is kind of true i suppose and is planning on restoring it. What you think?
Duncy H
I hope it isn't just restored so it's mint. I think it will be better off as it is where it has only been half straightened up, gives it more character! I've not been doing anything with the mini while my exams have been on. I keep getting outbid on a series engines though
Danny
It's going to be a bingley hall so ill have a looky at it. Is anyone else going this year?I've not been doing anything with the mini while my exams have been on. I keep getting outbid on a series engines though What you looking for? A 1275? What kind of money are they going for these days?I went out in the mini on saturday (round the block) it was misfiring like a bitch until it got warmed up. I think it just needed a good blast out after multiple starts in the garage without going on a run.
Tom Booth
I'm gonna go Danny I think. Try an get some enthusiasm for mine. That clubman should've stayed where it was in my opinion. It's no good for anything, all the relevant parts have be picked from it, just seems a pointless excersize to me.... Danny
If it did stay though it would have just been dug up and thrown in a skip when they cleared the site for redevelopment?
Duncy H
They go for all sorts of prices. I was bidding on an mg metro unit that went for £350 that was pretty complete. I was doing my mod one bike test and could feel my phone vibrating to say i'd been outbid but I couldn't exactly stop in the middle of my test I may go to bingley. There is a trial that day though, depends if i get my bike licence and get registered in time. Theres quite a few things I wouldn't mind picking up from there though. Tom Booth
If it did stay though it would have just been dug up and thrown in a skip when they cleared the site for redevelopment? Yeah I get that but realisticaly that needs a new roof inc pillars, probably quite a lot more metal an all the 1275gt bits to make it a genuine thing, even then it's not really that car anymore. In my eyes it's in the same league as these ex works minis. Your buying the paperwork and I'D because the cars been reshelled ith 4 different subframes etc. It's abit like triggers sweeping brush.

Danny
Tom did you ever get a megaljolt? And have you seen the new http://www.nodiz.co.uk/
Duncy H
Looks likely ill be going to bingley, that is if I get my car back which I should. I'm gunna be searching for mostly some bucket seats and a 1275/emgine bits. What do you reckon the likelihood is I can find bits at a decent price? Last year I just mooched around and only noticed how things were silly expensive. Edit: spotted a mg metro turbo engine on eBay close to me, I'm excited for this, hope I win it.
