Waiting for this to appear on my doorstep. Snapped it up on ebay for $600 (380pounds) delivered to my door. Was originally looking for something cheaper with cable discs, but V's will work just as well (didn't want anything hydraulic as I'd have to switch the breaks round to righthand-front break).

Anyone have any advice in general for rear suspension? Only ever had hard tails so I know zero about it. The guy I bought it off said he's had it down to his LBS for a tuneup so hopefully it should be ready to go out of the box.

Nice find mate! I would say you need to find out the correct pressure for your body weight for the shock. You can usually get this info from the manufacturer, usually the web site. If you don't set the shock right the bike will never ride how it was designed too.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for the info. Yeah I need to look into all that and then figure out how to adjust it.It took the guy 5 days to get it shipped so it's only just started it's first leg of the journey. <_<

A small pump, small so you don't blow the shock up in one stroke. You need it to let air out without ketting oil out, and to replace air if it needs that. Plus the pressure gauge makes dialling it a lot easier.

You might get away with it if the previous owner was heavier than you. You'd probably still let oil out though.

It's more about the pressure difference. My Shock pump can do 250 psi (Reverb seatpost), good luck doing that with a track pump!

JT, never ever try and let air out of forks/shocks without a shock pump on hand. It'll end in tears when you let all the air out and make the bike unusable until you find a pump.

Fair enough, like I said never had a rear sus bike before and thought I read they were both springs. Should be here any time now so I'll see what it's like.

Ok so got it all built up. Seems ok, needs new cables throughout really, especially on the brakes but that's no big deal.

There's a red lever on the rear shock which seems to be the lockout which does actually lock out surprisingly. Is that little red lever supposed to be either all the way on or off or can it be set in between? When it locks out the red lever kind of locks into place, but it's very loose in between, I'm assuming it's not supposed to be say anywhere in the middle. Also with regards to the rear shock, it is supposed to have any kind of dampening (make and model listed above)? Had a bounce around and didn't seem to, and there's no adjustment for it that I can make out.

The lockout on the forks doesn't seem to be quite as good as lockout I had on my almost identical forks back at home, is this simply a case of them needed to be serviced? The rebound seems to be working pretty good. In fact with it set to slowest it's quite hard to even lift the front wheel off the floor.

Edit: Scrap that, it does stay put and alters how soft/hard it needs to be. Still no sign of rebound adjust though.

Oh wow I need that! High for efficient riding and then boom, 4 inches lower for downhill. I thought it was like air shock suspension for your saddle.
