quick_spider
I'm 'running' a 10k run with my brother in law in around 6 weeks (although I'm assured it'll be more of a walk as he's doing it in his climbing gear in preparation for climbing Everest for Comic Relief next year) I've always had issues with my knees being sore if I run more than 200m - I used to strap them up using tubigrip bandages. Has anyone got any recommendations for a knee support, or should I stick with what I know?
Mark W
Might be worth looking at stretches and stuff to try and alleviate the problem itself rather than trying to cure the symptoms? If that makes any sort of sense Most times when my knees have been hurting, stretching and trying to get all the different muscles in my legs sorted has sorted things out (especially when patellar tendonitis was concerned). I should probably point out I don't just mean stretching in a "warming up" way. Pages like this and this helped out quite a lot. The effects were noticeable pretty quickly too, definitely in a time frame less than 6 weeks

haydon_peter
I do a few of the stretches in those links after xc/road rides. I was suffering with quite bad IT Band Syndrome but rest, some sports massages and stretching after longer rides seems to be helping. Now the weather is nicer I will be cycling more so fingers crossed I can keep on top of the problem! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iliotibial_band_syndrome
Luke Dunstan
Build up to the distance, if your knees hurt at 200m then 10k is gonna be a killer.
