ross87
Hi all, I have got a 24" DMR Drone jump bike and i need help with it. I have swapped out the 3pc cranks that were on it for some old Shimano Hone crankset I had lying around and I am running a half link chain on it. My question is where can I find a chainring that is 104bcd, 4 bolt, and anywhere between 32 and 36 tooth and will take a half link chain? I have looked everywhere!! Any help appreciated Thanks in advance.
Miss-Higgy
Erm, ditch the half link chain and buy a kool chain? Or find a bmx one with holes roughly in the right place and modify? Other than that I wouldn't have a clue without scouring the internet.
Revolver
104bcd..? Are you looking for a granny ring or a normal ring? I don't think you'd get a granny ring that big. On the plus side, any ring should take a half-link.

ross87
Im looking for a normal ring that would usually sit in the middle on a 3 ring setup. I thought that a half link chain would normally fit any ring but i am hearing a weird noise from it. As though the teeth aren't engaging properly. Topsy
Any chance your ring is for a 1/8 chain and the freewheel is for 3/32 chains or vice versa?
ross87
Yea but vice versa. Chainring is 3/32"
Topsy
Don't think there are any chains that would match two different sizes..(?) You need both 1/8 or both 3/32 for it to engage properly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Edited May 21, 2012 by Hopping_Topsy

You need both 1/8 or both 3/32 for it to engage properly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The pitch is the same for both so you just need to go for the larger size (1/8"). I've happily run 1/8" chains on 3/32" setups but you obviously can't go the other way without running into problems.
