The reality is chit chat is dying and has been gradually over the past 3 or 4 years. You said yourself said its 'broken'. I'm trying to fix it, looking very long term (one step back, two steps forward and all that) so it might be a while before you have to post a hat eating video, but hopefully not too long. There's a massively obvious way to sort every issue with TF at the moment if you ask me, it's a bit controversial though but I think things have been going downhill since the validation system was dropped. Well, I've only been here since october 10 or something, but also noticed that effect a bit. Also, sometime last summer I noticed that everything got pretty "boring" in here. (well not boring, but before you somehow all managed to make me laugh in every single thread I opened, which has changed a little.) Messing with SM's won't do anything. SM's have zero effect on the forum. I really think the 'problem' is is that we're seeing trials peak a little. Trials only started becoming popular post 1998 I believe? I think through the early 2000's when trials boomed there was an influx in people wanting to get started and share in this niche sport, meaning the forum thrived. Now it's much more mainstream than it was 12 years ago the niche appeal has died down and because of places like tartybikes trials has become much more accessible, and the forum is less needed. he old schoolers move on and get old and the new school riders don't have the need to reach out to others. ...or I could just be talking out of my asshole, but that's my best bet as to why it's died down in here. I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Pretty much my thoughts exactly. As I mentioned one post up, we need to encourage new members and new riders to get involved. In my opinion, the happy/angry (and "the" threads in general) are fairly cliquey places where generally only a select few old school members post. If I was a new member I wouldn't want to 'butt in' on a thread thats been going for the past 7 years, and nor would I want to start a new topic when there's already one that applies to what I'd want to post about. I think that's it exactly. No one new comes to post in here because they can just sign up and do it if they want to. If they have to go through validation they'd interract more with the guys here anyway, be more interested and look around a bit, perhaps hoping they can ask this and that question they have on their mind here. And not just sign up, ask why they can't do sidehops and then only return for their next question. but perhaps I'm talking out of my arse too..
