MadManMike
I'm buying another MX5 and I'm gonna swap all my nice bits across Decided that the annual welding, along with engine and cooling issues, along with poor bodywork means that I'd need to plough another 2.5k into it to get it to the standard I'd like, whereas buying a better condition one and swapping my nice bits would cost about 500 quid. Tempted to try a 1.8 this time, too.
forteh
The father in laws is a 1.8, 95k on the clock. Don't think he's selling it though
dann2707
Had a really productive day on the car today. Got home from work and nailed a load of jobs that were on my list. Fitted the front and rear door cards (actually this was the other night but uploading pics) Received some more fuel hose as i think the stuff I have may be too small in ID. Also found science on my living room floor. This is something i've always wanted to do. Really tidy the rear car loom with P clips and rivets as before it was a half arsed job. Off I went to make some holes! I tidied up the door sensor loom too and P clipped that. I then fed the rear loom through and tidied it up. Everytime I see the colour i'm more and more happy with it P clipped the rear number plate light too Lower B pillar on drivers side I then fitted the pedal box, with the new master cylinder. Big 1" jobby Pedal box in I then fitted the dash and made a start of wiring it up but was pretty happy with the progress tonight. More to follow tomorrow through the day. Final pics from tonight.. More p clip pics haha

forteh
I think they would look a lot better if they exited out of the dash moulding and then bent forwards 45° or so. If they were finished with a foot plate with a couple of fixings in it would look even better imho
MadManMike
Make a panel for the front of them and mount a gauge of some sort in there. At the moment they look unfinished. Car on the whole is looking awesome though, great work dude!
dann2707
Haha form over function and that! I'll sort it if I can be arsed. Just want to kick its f**king head in now on track
SamKidney
Might have just stumbled upon my new daily driver. 2004 Audi A3 1.9TDi. Recent engine replacement but the tit that owns it currently drove it home on a blown Turbo and no oil... £250.00 secures me the car, £250.00 gets me a replacement engine with a good Turbo. Car is clean as too! Happy days
monkeyseemonkeydo
Just paint them the same colour as the interior and ziptie some foam padding round them and they'll look suitably racecar rather than unfinished.
dann2707
Believe it or not someone at work actually commented on them without me saying anything saying that they looked great. f**k knows why haha. I honestly don't care though.

TROYston
Things have happened, fitted the exhaust properly, welded the centre pipe onto the downpipe after making a section of exhaust. Learning experience and would of just rather paid for it to be done. But it's all sealed well and kept the cat and all the lambdas now. 165/50s come, all the garages in burton couldn't get the shits on, so tried myself with the fire method, to no avail. I know they'll fit on 8j, but the ultralites being single lipped would of been overly bad and potholes probably would of blew the tyres off the bead, so phoned my tyres and sending them back for a refund. Phoned a few place's in burton and got some 185/45 nankang ns2 fitted, not much stretch, but enough to clear everything. Lowered it more, waiting a few days for it to settle and then probably wind it down a little more, but I'll have to take the rear diff / chassis strengthening brace off before it grabs something and launches me into the windscreen. Still need to adjust the camber and play with spacers Quite potentially getting a fast back hardtop prototype at the end of the month, or a custom roof spoiler. RobinJI
Looking good Dan. The new colour's infinitely better than the old one. I'd be tempted to paint those uprights satin black personally, but I didn't think they looked too bad. They do look a little off centre from the rear view, but I'm guessing that's the centre console being offset a bit, and how often are you actually going to look at them at that angle anyway? Also, could you pinch/squash the bottom of them flat to give a nicer mounting face to bolt up to the tunnel? The 924's shell is now essentially rust free, so I made a start on the seat mounts the other day. So far I've got the rear drivers one in (it'll be drilled once I've got the sidemounts I've had laser-cut folded so I can try the seat in place properly): They stick out through the floor to get the seat low enough, but they don't hang any lower most of the underside anyway:
Danny
Cutting a hole in the floor just to put your seat lower.... i like it!
RobinJI
It did seem a bit extreme at the time but I actually only end up at about the same height as the factory seating position. The trouble is the standard seats are really thin based, so you can't raise the mounts at all, even with a bucket seat. The standard mounts are just a little platform on the sheet steel where I cut the box section through, so the top of the box is with a couple of mm of being the same height as the factory mounts. CurtisRider
Yeah they are rather tight! My Impreza seats sit nice and low compared to the tombstones which i find to be ideal. Good work on the shell, can't believe how bad yours was!
