Skoze
Was running a bit noisy, so ran it over to my mate's place (big boss at Burton and been dicking about with Essex' on and off for 35 years) who's half a mile away as its first trip out, both of us were scratching our heads over what the f**k it was so i'm gonna pull it apart before it gets trashed. This car, this f**king car...
SamKidney
Cool to see you making progress @Luke Rainbird, however steady it may be Great to see you doing a bit of DIY/custom fabrication to get your ideas to work.
dann2707
I know exactly what you mean about the semi thing haha. It's not car related but this arrived today which I designed at work (hard to explain what it is, but it's to hold our materials in an oven) But to me I love the fact that it was a design in my head, to being a model on solidworks, then tolerancing everything on the engineering drawing to having it machined by a company. And now it's in my hand. It's very rewarding.
Luke Rainbird
Absolutely - great feeling turning ideas into reality. I'm just having fun seeing how much of it all I can do myself for minimal money, and so far it's working out really well. Fingers crossed it stays that way

MadManMike
So I'm new to fitting suspension and just want to get some opinions before I dive in... I bought some FK coilies and some new top mounts, both designed for the mk2 / NB, but will fit just fine. The top mounts I have are just metal and need upper and lower bushings. MX5 parts have genuine Mazda upper bushes listed but don't have any stock, nor do they have lower bushes listed. I'd ideally like to just buy a kit with all 8 bushes in. Any ideas??? MadManMike
Actually, it looks like I need more than just bushes. http://s110.photobucket.com/user/saz9961/media/NBBushes.jpg.html My new coilies have a simple flat washer and I have the largest orange part in that link. Do I need everything shown there, or is that specific to those coilovers?? I'm fine with fitting the bits, I just want to make sure I have all the bits I need before I start. MartMini
@MadManMike Fancy doing me a massive favour and measuring up the rear shocks for me? Looking at using something like that for the rear of the celica, as coilovers are expensive as fook for it.
MadManMike
I don't the most accurate measuring tool, but it looks like around 42cm total length.
AdamR28
Can't you use the existing top mounts?
MadManMike
Existing ones are mk1, the coilies are mk2 so need mk2 mounts
Danny
Buy mk1 coilies?
MadManMike
mk1 coilies aren't bargains, unless you buy TA, which are SHITE on an MX-5. I never thought that 8 bits of rubber would be so difficult to track down, it's not like the mk2 is from 1947 or something!
SamKidney
Would it not possibly be easier to find poly alternatives?
MadManMike
Struggling to find anything at all, at the moment! Would happily use poly or almost anything else, but no luck so far.

MadManMike
The only search terms I didn't search for! Quite expensive, but I don't have much choice. Cheers Danny!
AdamR28
Must be loads of people who've bought MeisterR / BC etc coilovers who have top mounts going spare? Tried Facebook MX-5 groups, Nutz forum?
MadManMike
Yeah I have posted a few things up, no joy so far... My bargain coilies are going to be an extra 60 quid by the looks of it!
SamKidney
Last bit of accessable sound deadening removed this afternoon. Floor needs attention in two areas, arches to go on and then it's pretty much ready to go for paint. Dash board and wiring to sort and cut back next week.
Danny
I bet you can't remove as much wiring as i did from my sol If you remove anything to do with ABS, Stereo, Electric Windows, Etc you should save a bunch.
