Pashley26
I don't care to scroll up but the person with squeaking brakes..... You'be bed them in wrong. You need to go out and accelerate to 100MPH and then slow down to a walking pace as quickly as possible as many times as you can, until you have no brakes left and smoke is billowing off them. Then drive for as long as you can without touching the brakes until they are totally cool.

SamKidney
I know! Haha. It's a chap called Andrew. We've MOT'd it for years. He just uses it as a track toy and goes to the occasional show so it's far from "show and shine" standards but it's one of the most terrifyingly fun cars I've ever driven. He presumed the same and bought another lump for it in case his dies but he's had it well over 6 years with the same engine and it just keeps going... clocks read 112540 which is correct for the engine. He states its never really put a foot wrong. VVT from a 200 GTI, torsen LSD, altered ratios. It's something else. Each time it has come in previous I've never had the chance to go out in it so I jumped at it today. It failed on a load of things mid last month and he brought it back today. New rear subframe, brakes, brake lines, coil suspension in place of the rubber donuts.. I like it. And I want one.
Danny
Andy Goater's grey clubby? I know Andy he always takes the piss out of me for cleaning my mini. It needed a bunch of welding to pass didn't it? His build thread is here if anyone's interested: http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27565
Haz
Car works. Checked and cleaned the crank sensor, removed and cleaned relays and fuses. Checked spark, had spark. Checked fuel, had fuel. Started car, ran car. Started car 5 more time, ran car 5 more times. That will do for now, but I'm going to get some electrical cleaner and work on the fuse/relay box. In fact the entire engine bay could use a clean.
MadManMike
That clubby is awesome. Bet it's so much fun to drive. Too much of a project for me at the moment, but something like that really appeals.
dann2707
This week has been mainly cleaning peoples injectors and a few car bits. Nothing amazing as i'm waiting on SOOOOOOO many parts to arrive. Switches and carbon fibre for my centre panel, I also started making the panel for my ESP and cruise control by cutting out the old heater vent on the drivers side 20160823_172047 by dann2707, on Flickr Got it in like that ready to be araldited in however i'm not happy with it, purely because it's not central and you can't get it further across due to the shape of it 2016-08-23_08-18-13 by dann2707, on Flickr So i'm going for carbon fibre on that panel too, with custom switches - watch this space I fitted my blower 20160823_190734 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160823_190821 by dann2707, on Flickr Its bloody powerful! But definitely sounds like a leaf blower. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWmjDRRfiy8 Tidied the dash up a bit, going to be relocating the ECU airbag etc 20160823_195959 by dann2707, on Flickr Tonight i've been identifying what does what on the switches and making a note of what the wires do. Pretty fun and very rewarding. Had to quickly dash out to my car with a button switch to make sure its doing what I think it is. IT IS 20160825_195747 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160825_195749 by dann2707, on Flickr This is also how i'm mounting my switches. I've gone for these sexy switches but they're pretty costly but I really wanted black toggle switches and all the same style. The top panel is going to consist of hazards, USB and aux input Bottom panel will be: Top - door lock, heated rear screen Bottom - pass window, heater, cooler, driver window. It's a multitude of (on) OFF (on) and on off on switches, coupled with a few MOM/off switches for good measure all depicted by the each type of switch I have in here. Ignore that third blue button that was gonna be for my hazards but ive moved that to the top panel now. 2016-08-25_09-57-23 by dann2707, on Flickr Going back in time now but I forgot to say, door cards are also off. Got my flat ones at work, just need to pick my dremel up from home so I can get cutting the slots for door pulls, handle etc. 20160822_201544 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160822_201548 by dann2707, on Flickr I've learnt a lot from this. Really enjoying taking the car to bits! Edited August 25, 2016 by dann2707

MadManMike
Any BMW experts on here? 59 plate 118i needs a centre air vent unit (including hazard switch etc) Any idea which years will fit?

dann2707
Tonight i've been tinkering holy shit it's 12.22! I feel like a student again. Got my door cards on. Absolutely beautiful things! I used velcro to stick them on. It's worked really well Lots of velcro 20160826_190412 by dann2707, on Flickr The plastic covering is still on 20160826_193135 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160826_193347 by dann2707, on Flickr Thought i'd go for something different too, people usually use the silver door handles but i'm going for the stealth look 20160826_193819 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160826_194636 by dann2707, on Flickr I also fitted the heater properly tonight. I've used nylon stand off washers to space it out due to the angle of the coolant pipes. Think it looks pretty decent too! @Danny 20160826_194747 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160826_194757 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160826_194804 by dann2707, on Flickr Another pic of the door card against the wheel and seat. 20160826_195447 by dann2707, on Flickr I also received my switches from RS so started wiring them up. These have to be DPDT as that's how the window operates. Basically when you flick the switch up and down it reverses the polarity of the wires to the motor which either goes up or down. All done! 20160827_000646 by dann2707, on Flickr I then tested it to see if it all works, it does as you can see when im pressing it one way the voltage on the LCD display is negative 12v. 20160826_220108 by dann2707, on Flickr Then flicking it the other way you get positive 20160826_220121 by dann2707, on Flickr It's so handy having a PSU fixed for 12v output for things like this. Tom Booth
Just now, Danny said: Where is your mini Tom? Is it still in one piece? Sat in my garage, with a brand new home made loom on the passenger seat and its engine out. I have everything to do it, just no interest lol. I really should finish it and start enjoying it, I plan on a mk1 reshell or something at some point.

forteh
S-max passed the mot with nothing more than advisories for rear tyres getting close to legal limit. Obviously replacing the front dampers, rear arm bushes and exhaust flexi has cost in the region of 520 quid but hey it needed doing and it's good for another year edit: I'm working on the fairground at onslow park steam rally this weekend and saw a man with a "make the noise" t-shirt, instantly recognised it as a project binky shirt, made me smile Edited August 28, 2016 by forteh

Pashley26
Spent more money on the Subaru. Replacement boost hoses, a wide bore intercooler y pipe, new gaskets for the intercooler and DV, springs should hopefully be on next weekend and oil and filter change next week. I've had it since April and done just about 2000 miles.
