george_seamons
I've fitted 5 PD turbos to various cars...all of them have snapped shafts. THey must be seriously wank turbos. They all end up with litres of oil in the intercooler pipework...very messy!
CurtisRider
Excellent, thanks chaps! I will do the mentioned tests first, see if it's just a silly loose pipe issue and if not then i'll get looking for another turbo for him. There was an excessive amount of oil near one of the recently replaced boost pipes, so that's not a great sign. I will whip off the intake pipe work and see how much play the turbo shaft has too. Fingers crossed it's not the turbo as the poor fella doesn't have much money (he is a TA at my school so crap pay) and considering life has been a shit to him he somehow is still one of the nicest people you have ever met so I want to help him where I can. MadManMike
My PD150 did that, whistled big time and 30 miles later - BANG.
CurtisRider
Secondhand, rebuilt or new? He's hoping to keep it at least a year, preferably 2. I guess a low mileage secondhand unit would be satisfactory?
george_seamons
Last one I did looked like this: Wasn't a very happy motor! After it shat itself all over my floor, I wasn't very happy either! If you've caught it in time before its damaged the casings, you should be able to just fit a replacement CHRA.
CurtisRider
Excellent, so they are a reasonably easy fit I take it? I'll be checking the car on Wednesday, sounds like i'm best off just whipping the air intake hose to the turbo and checking for wobble straight away? Azarathal
Thought about any other styling dan? My car is currently being converted to manual and having the coilovers put on at the same time so I'm 110% in for curby! Won't be able to pay until end of March though as I'm skint

SamKidney
On the hunt for some ek9 standard suspension. Can't do with these coilovers anymore.

CurtisRider
At least they are decent coilovers rather than the £150 eBay turd!
george_seamons
Yeah, would never have cheap coilovers again. Done it once, but the difference between the cheap ones and the expensive ones is huge.
Pete.M
Transferred stuff from my old 940 to the 740; lowering springs, front anti-roll bar, strut brace, underbody brace, dual rear anti-roll bars, and the "quick steer roll correctors". Just needs poly bushes. On the original springs it was sitting stupendously high, much better now. The front has settled a tiny bit lower since these pictures. The handling is hilariously unmatched to the power. It's so slow but at least I can carry speed through corners now. @Adam@TartyBikes Do you happen to have some small blocks of nylon or similar that you could turn on the lathe, and a little bit of spare time?
forteh
If Adam hasn't got any nylon in stock, we often have 2" and 3" diameter at work that I could get a chunk cut off and send up to Preston :)
