Tom Booth
For the month I owned a Clio that shape, I hated it. Low sun + skinny visors sucked dick
Pashley26
Why doesn't Dan just wear sunglasses, like all badass race car drivers do. Edited January 18, 2016 by Pashley26

Mark W
I picked up a new helmet over Xmas, and this has just reminded me that it means I'll no longer have the slide-down tinted interior visor option that I had on the helmet I was borrowing from Adam. That thing was a life saver at Anglesey. A lack of that plus a lack of roof, sun visors and sunglasses for the weekend after next might make life interesting. dann2707
Okay so some pics and a vid from Friday. The vid is at the bottom. Me and Matty got there very early for the sign on at 7.30, briefing etc only to not be allowed on the track until 12 rather than 9 due to the weather so we talked and had a mooch around looking at other cars. I was absolutely shitting myself at the noise test as there were so many quiet cars there and mine was there just burbling away.. but pulled off a gracious 87 with the limit being 105 I think. 20160115_093519 by dann2707, on Flickr There were a massive array of cars but first and foremost.. 20160115_093608 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160115_093606_HDR by dann2707, on Flickr 20160115_093553 by dann2707, on Flickr It was a very tricky day with the track being very icy. I had a massive oooopssiieeee at the start of the day obviously where the wheel came off, most likely due to having longer wheel nuts with me running 20mm spacers up front. The cliosport.net boys sorted me out though helping me get Boris back on the track Cheers Nick, Adam and Matty. I felt like I didn't even have time to work out the track properly / which lines to take and to be in which gear for which parts which didn't help. 20160115_125003 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160115_125113 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160115_125248 by dann2707, on Flickr We managed to sort it out HOWEVER, I was missing a wheel nut meaning I couldn't run that side. Luckily Adam had some spare wheel nuts but this meant I could only run side without a spacer and the other with. Which really reallllllllllllly messed up the handling. I could brake and it would throw the car right and probably what caused me to spin the two times as these occurred swiftly after the wheel issue. I could have left it at that and gone home but I wanted to make the most of the day. 20160115_134630 by dann2707, on Flickr Spinning into the grass wasn't ideal and gave me a nice covering of grass 20160115_160038 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160115_160006 by dann2707, on Flickr 20160116_125638 by dann2707, on Flickr Adams car about to head onto track for 2 laps before it was time up 20160115_160908 by dann2707, on Flickr The following day it snowed, Boris looks bad without wheel spacers 20160117_121015 by dann2707, on Flickr I then took it to get cleaned as I wasn't prepared to do it myself. the battery died in the forecourt though which was very embarrassing 20160117_124708 by dann2707, on Flickr And here is the video. Memorable and fun moments and not so fun: Spin at Chris Curve chasing down a yellow Evo @ 1:30 Wheel coming off @ 2:08 Another spin at Chris Curve @ 6:35 Lift off oversteer that I managed to control woo @ 7:55 https://youtu.be/Zy0CuIpv5aU Overall it was a fairly stressful day especially with the low sun in our eyes at every given opportunity completely hindering progress. But I felt like I learnt a lot about the car. And Boris lives on Bitchezzzzzzzzzzz
Mark W
Fair play for not giving that armco something to think about when you were spinning! From seeing onboards from Cadwell I thought that would have been barrier central if you'd gone off. Out of interest, how did you find Hall Bends (think they're called that)?
SamKidney
I checked my oil today. It it barely had any. Original engine, D14, but it's only on 67k which normally is nothing for them.. No leaks either. Engines dry as a bone, and no obvious smoke that I've noticed anyway. Will be observing the level weekly now.

Haha thanks, Its such a narrow track so i'm glad I came off there! I didn't mind that bit at all, I would have loved grippier tyres but they're road tyres so I couldn't expect too much especially when it was 0 degrees all day

RobinJI
Wow, just realised I haven't posted in here in a long while! In early December the 406 finally started playing up, then someone smashed the rear screen over night and the MOT was due soon. A friend offered me his 525d for a good price so sadly the 406 went over the weighbridge, but I'm very happy with the 5 series. Super comfy and less painfuly slow/floppy to drive. The 6 pot's super smooth for a diesel too. The Porsche has been off the road for the winter. I'll probably pull the head off to see if the noisy engine's the result of anything more sinister than the cam followers. Hopefully not, in which case I'll try and grab a second hand head for it and get on with suspension fun. Dan, I'm glad you got away with such little damage! Very lucky. We're the spacers hubcentric? I've run 15mm slip on hubcentrics without ever having the bolts slacken off. I guess the wheels face thickness could effect bolt length a fair bit though, mine were pretty thin. Jardo, massively gutted about the pop. I do hope it see's a 2nd life!
MadManMike
Sad to hear that the 406 has gone to Peugeot heaven, but that BMW looks tidy. TFTD2 will see a newer estate sliding out on the corners??
Mark W
Is there a date pencilled in for TFTD2? Just realised I actually have a car suitable for it (plus it at TFTD1 so it'd be maintaining its 100% record)...

dann2707
Those pics hahaha. Harnesses are looking dangerous too, shouldn't have the buckle high up like that it should be as close to the fixing point as possible.
