SamKidney
This talk of Micras has reminded me I have one sat at my Dads house... Need to get rid or use it really. Cleaned the Civic today. Very shiny. Very happy.
SamKidney
Cracked on with getting the B16 out of the other car today. An hour and a half later and voila: Got the gearbox off, along with the inlet manifold and cylinder head. As i had suspected the bores have been polished slightly due to it overfueling on the ITBs but everything else looks good. Will be seeing what the rings are like tomorrow when I get the rods and Pistons out. Worst case is a new set of rings and a bore hone to go with a new head gasket and some bolts. Danny
My B16 removal technique was a little different to yours Sam. Edited October 22, 2015 by Danny
dann2707
Loosen a few bolts in the engine bay, lift car up and jiggle up and down for 5 mins. Perfect.
SamKidney
Removed my D15z6 from my old ek3 in the same way Danny Engines all in bits now. No.1 big end has been very hot! It's the only bearing that's blued out of the lot... Going with a full set of ACL main and big end bearings. Thinking of going for some Weisco pistons and eagle H beam rods. Crank and flywheel are away to be lightened and balanced in the next week or so.

And buy a new OE oil pump to fit when it all goes back together, even if the current one is within spec. Don't ask me why I'm recommending this... Don't ask me why I'm recommending this...I've measured the journals and they're all within spec, minimal wear, literally only the no.1 rod bearing has blued slightly but the rest look good. Oem oil pump is in my garage ready to go also, I've been caught by that one too...
greg1040
On nightshift at the minuite so friday off work thought i would start cracking with holder for dash. First time doing some fibre glassing dad was supervising ha. Still a work in progress just got to smooth off the filler on the front and give it a lick of paint and do the cut outs but its coming on heres how its looking at the minuite. greg1040
And finished ☺it is by no means perfect but neither is the rest of the car. But will fit its purpose.
Tom Booth
You've made a good job of that Greg, I don't envy you flatting filler down inside a circle, that's a bitch of a job. You might want to add a bead of silicone sealer/tiger seal type stuff around the edge to stop/hide any cracks if it moves at all.
SamKidney
May well be collecting a JDM B16a in running condition today to plonk in. Gives me an excuse to fully build my B16a2...

Jolfa
Looks more like wild understeer than oversteer
Tom Booth
When you know a cars going sideways you look at the picture different somehow. Does look too normal to be skidding though
Jolfa
I think the problem with the perspective in that photo is that the tyre wall corner in the background is the opposite direction to the skid
Pete.M
Good point, I can see how it looks like understeer. In that picture I'm in the cross-over section of the figure of 8.It does look clean in comparison to most of the other drift "missiles" that were there. But it does have quite a bit of rust. Very happy with how well it slides. It's way better than the Sierra we had for a short while. The Sierra needed aggressive clutch kicks and would understeer like crazy, but the Volvo steps out nicely by just hammering the throttle. I'm planning to try Driftland soon so that will be more challenging.

Gives me an excuse to fully build my B16a2...will u be sticking the turbo kit on the jdm b16 or waiting till you have built up your b16a2 sam?Good point, I can see how it looks like understeer. I did consider an s15 before i got the teg but thought the dc2 seemed a bit more suited to the track. Went out for a 5 hour drive sunday with few of my pals 2 guys pulled out which was a bit of a bummer not often we get a big group of us going most my pals aint into cars. But headed out towards bramar and along glenshee road. Seen some awsome cars out for a thrash also. We parked up for a bit and porche gt3 audi r8 and think it was aston martin went buy all with go pros attached to there cars so was clearly out for some fun. Dunno what the r8 had done to it but it sounded soo good. Didnt get a chance for much pics am afraid but some amazing scenary out that way.
Pashley26
I've got nothing to moan about, had a fantastic day. Abarth was considerably better than I had hoped it would be. Hilariously loud, popping and spitting flames out of the exhaust, bullying Skyline's and RS Clio's out of it's way. It continually lapped at 1:30 all day without as much as a warning light. It did average <10MPG, and average lap speed was consistently above 72MPH and maximum speed was 98MPH. In short it was holding itself quite well. Parada Spec 2's were as shit as ever haha! You can actually see where they have flex'd and rolled so much around the track limits haha! All in all, an awesome day in a crap but very well behaved car. Thanks to everyone.Video to follow when I've got home and plugged my camera in.
MadManMike
I can't wait to get my car up to spec and get out on track! Will definitely be next year now.Would be nice to have the car on the road, full stop actually
greg1040
Nice 1 jardo look forward to the video. I can imagine they go quite well with been such a wee car. Some young loon next to my parents has 1 and it pops away and sounds pretty decent has a airtec fmic on it also so guessing its fully moded. Ive been in the normal fiat 500 thing was pretty hilarious with its sport button. Would be cool to get to a proper track with some of u tfers. I know u can rent knockhill for the night think its £2500 but looks like most u guys are down south.
