Right, so the missus got herself a nice little fiesta, 56 plate, alright mileage etc etc.

After driving it she has noticed the following;

1. Put the car in reverse and reverse at a slow speed, such as reversing out of a parking bay.

2. Put the car into first and its as though the gear doesn't engage. She'll lift the clutch but its as though the car is in neutral.

3. Pop it into neutral and then second attempt into first, same thing happens.

4. About the 3rd time of doing the above, it'll go into gear and work (doesn't make any horrible grinding noises or anything like that.

We still have a 1 month guarentee from the garage on the car which covers the engine and gearbox so we'll probably just it to them to investigate - but I'm curious as to what this could be? Any ideas?

Driving through the gearbox is smooth, no horrible noises, no slips, all fine apart from this.

Already?!

What engine us the new one going to be built on? Considered a torque monster like triumphs rocket 3? :)

Does it not engage with any of the other gears after reversing or is it only first?

So some photos from Brands Hatch, had a bit of a nightmare when we got down there trying to sort out our tickets but after a stupid amount of time we got in, but not til after the first race. We were shooting pictures for the company Decisive which were part of the AMD team so mainly shots of that particular car and not of much else unfortunately. he crashed on the first lap on the last race so it wasn't easy to get pictures but we got loads between us.

I'm still not sure what to do myself in terms of a car. Been running around in my Dads Nissan Navara pick up which is great but it drinks fuel at a ridiculous rate. I'm still semi tempted to purchase something like a audi a4/passat tdi estate or something similar.

Very nice shots Dunc!

A quick photo-dump of a few shots of the Porsche's gearbox happenings:

The mounts with the old, rotten & delaminated rubber removed and some fresh polyurethane cast in instead:

The box out of the car (might look familiar to old Audi owners, parts bin engineering at its finest:

The new rear half of the linkage, this was all mega-warn nylon, rubber & plastic pivots before:

And finally a crap picture of the new gearstick (need to make a boot still):

Nice one Robin, I am tempted to do mine too, also seen some modern VAG gearbox mounts that look adaptable to fit our boxes too. Which rear box have you got on there? Looks like a stainless Dansk, mine is cracked all over the place so I want to swap it with something less pants but still sounds just as good...

Very boring one, excuse the copy/paste:

It's been a while since my last proper update due to being extremely busy with work and my only free weekends being busy with weddings, anniversaries, medical stuff and the like.

In all honesty, not much has happened with the Leon for the reasons above so this won't be anything particularly interesting I'm afraid. Here are the cliff notes:

Got incredibly lucky:

Hit a milestone:

Had some GOOD NEWS!

20150925_123837_zpsrp5z4riy.jpg

Put in a 225  refitted one of the dash rings that had fallen off before I bought the car

Then today, I had an afternoon with a lathe and not much to do, so made up a new crankcase breather to replace the current cracked/nasty one. Need a new o-ring before this goes on

I'm away for a fortnight or so now, but once I'm back and have a spare couple of days I'll be looking to get the new turbo, manifold and exhaust on the car. Don't hold your breath for that happening any time soon though... :P

Little bits and bobs to sort on the civic over the coming weeks. Getting a tiny amount of bump back through the brake pedal when I'm slowing down gently. I was planning on changing my front pads for something a little more aggressive though I'm thinking of changing my discs too to step away from my current drilled and grooved discs for a set of higher quality "blank" discs.

Need to to get an o2 sensor spacer too to move my post cat sensor from being directly in the exhaust stream as its been de-catted. If I erase the code the eml stays off for so long and then pops back on as the post sensor is reading rich with there being no cat present. Hoping that the spacer will allow it to collect a weaker reading and keep it off. Got a heat shield rattling somewhere too that needs deleting asap because it's doing my head in. Rattles most at 60mph which doesn't make for a pleasant commute.

As already said some seriously sweet shots there duncy.

Nice 1 luke always good to see some1 machine there own parts rather than buy. Wish we had some small machines at work were only geared up for biggish stuff even the manual lathes are a fair size.

Thoughts on the new m2? Personally i absolutly love it and if its going to be limited production will hold its value really well. Still not sure on the blue i recon white with some carbon goodies on it would look rather tasty.
