Pete.M
That's a good point. Not tried any products like K-seal yet. I really need to have a closer look, problem is I use the damn thing for work 6 days a week so not got much time. And I'm busy moving house at the moment, argh. JD, I was concerned about that but the oil looks fine. Edited September 12, 2012 by Pete.M
AdamR28
In that case, bung a bottle of K-Seal in. Takes 5 mins, should help. If not, it'll come back out the system and leave copper all over the area the coolant is leaking from
King C
Your rad cap could be busted, just venting out all your coolant as vapour. I need to keep topping mine up, not as often as you, but thats what I suspect mine to be.
RobinJI
The other not so cheery option is a head gasket blow from a waterway directly into a cylinder, a compression test would show this up and would only take a few minutes if you can get your hands on a tester. Greetings
Is your steering tight? Usually no need to work so hard on the wheel.

Surely there would be some pretty telling symptoms with that problem though? I haven't noticed anything particularly strange. Cheers for the suggestions. RobinJI
Yeah, it's not that likely, but there could be a small leak past the gasket. Main thing would be that you'd expect the gasses to be escaping through the coolant when it's running. A sniff of the header tank will give a clue too. (Not toooo big a sniff though!)
Simon
Can go other way too. Best way is to run the car for a while, let it cool down, then smell your overflow tank, if you can smell petrol and it look's like a rainbow, shit's wrong, that's how i knew my Civic's headgasket had gone at first. Then of course the massive plume of white smoke shortly after ha.
Topsy
Which one's cheaper to keep running, an mx5 na, or a nb? Nb's seem to go for the same price, if not cheaper as na's, and I really can't decide between the looks, so I'll try to decide whicht to get on more practical things. erm.. All I'd like to do with it is, pair of bucket seats, rollbar, lower it (at a certain cost, I don't want to completely ruin the handling) and rims ofcourse. maybe strap a turbo on after a few years or whatever.. If you'd would like one of the two and would also like to get those things done without spending too much, which would you go for? (Leave insurance out of it, I'm not in the uk anyway)
AdamR28
Na. Alex - the power steering is removed so I had to decrease the caster for daily use, and I'm crap, hence all the steering input
dann2707
Guyzzzzz, I'm after a CD player for my car as my current one is just the standard ford CD player double din that comes as standard. It's frustrating having to make CD's and change them and then they get all scratched. I need some AUX input in my life, anyone know of a good cheap unit? Not wanting to pay loads, I did have a proper decent Alpine unit a few cars ago but don't want to spend as much money as that. Any ideas on such a unit? Pashley26
Going to look at a Leon Cupra this afternoon; f**k knows why. Because it's cheap I guess. http://www.swapz.co.uk/swapz/3035781/seat_leon_1_8_20v_cupra_turbo/
Luke Rainbird
I particularly like the fantastic job he's done of taking nice clear pictures, such as this: Shame it's a pre-facelift. What's he asking for it, straight swap for the BMW?

I'd personally go with something like this: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m--afoipod003_p-21258.htm I did in the Audi - keeps the standard look, charges your phone (if you're that phone inclined), all totally integrated so you control skipping tracks etc with the normal stereo controls.

I didn't want to spend the money either but then I figured it's an extra selling point to the car when it gets sold and it was definitely worth it in the mean time. You can, though, get these for far cheaper as a general Aux In: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-Fiesta-Focus-Escort-Explorer-KA-MP3-iPod-iPhone-Aux-Adaptor-CTVFOX001-/270946088579?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3f15a53683#ht_2242wt_1413
dann2707
Utter legend, that's perfect. Means I don't have to faff around with installing another cheapy looking CD player which never looks quite as good as oem. Cheers man.(the ebay one)

(the ebay one) I would recommend one of those too, I had one in my Puma (very similar stereo to yours actually), and also had one in my ibiza before I got a new headunit which has bluetooth (wireless streaming ). They are very easy to install and work perfectly.
dann2707
Nice one! Ordered, was getting so sick of playing the same 4 CD's I had over and over haha.
Pashley26
Mr Seat Leon turned out to be a massive fanny. Agreed a deal at a straight swap, and then he said he couldn't do it there and then because he needed the car to get to work in the morning and he had to change over the security cameras to let him in the carpark so asked if I could pick it up Sunday. Fair enough. He text me (a f**king text?!) 20mins later and said he wanted £200 his way as well. So I told him to f**k off. Going to look at this tonight - http://www.swapz.co.uk/swapz/3040935/saab_93_hot_aero/ 230BHP stage 2 Saab 93 Aero HOT. Spoke with the owner, it seems a good car and he's willing to do a deal tonight with £250 his way. Which I'm more than happy with if it is a good car. He's a fair bit older than all he other pricks I've been dealing with, so hopefully it will be a nice car. Judging by the spec of it and from what I knew about them 5 years ago it is all bar a downpipe stage 2 spec; so with a £90 downpipe it'll be ready for a 270bhp map. And being the HOT Aero it's got the TD0417T turbo, which can be swapped straight out for a readily available and very cheap TD019T which will reliably flow 310bhp with nothing more than injectors. Fingers crossed.
dann2707
Gave the car a much deserved polish and wax today! Now it's back on the road i'm starting to fall back in love with it. I know it's just a shitty focus but thought i'd post a few pics anyway Removed the yellow tint on the fogs and refit the rear wiper as was going to sell it but decided not to now.
