haydon_peter
Seems more likely to be driver error. Apparently it wasn't their car and it happened at the end of the first lap. Saturday was chaos! 30+ cars per session, overtaking on the left, overtaking on bends and I hardly saw any black flags! I even saw cars getting released from the pits into traffic I wouldn't mind taking a car out on track one day but have been really put off doing it after seeing what people were getting away with on Saturday! I think it would have been a terrible day to go out on my first track session, especially seeing as I only want to do 1-2 sessions just to say I have tried it. george_seamons
Having done my fair share of track days, I was appauled at the marshalling on Saturday. Very very bad track ettiquete by countless drivers, and little to no Marshall intervention. At many points, much much slower cars were released from the pit lane into on coming full speed cars on track. During the busy sessions, there were neigh on 40 cars on track...far far too many judging by the standards of driving! Still, it was a good day out (even though it took me forever to get home!). The Fiat driver entered Camp far too quickly (newbie driver!), and just understeered catastrophically! It WAS his car though, according to the YouTube comments anyway! Pashley26
To be fair I was 99% certain that I was going to kill both of us on my first entry to camp. The guy in the briefing last year said that Camp and Quarry are the two most dangerous corners in uk motorsport, something crazy like 40% of competetive accidents happen on them. AdamR28
That sounds feasible - one of the reasons I'm not keen to drive there any time soon
george_seamons
You could have killed us on ANY of the corners dude! Think the problem there is; its such a short lap, the quick cars soon end up lapping the slower cars at the back of the pack, who then panic, and its all goes to shit! King C
Shit, I was there and "heard" of a car rolling but wasn't sure if it was just hearsay.
Pashley26
lol George; still kept all the 290bhp S3's at bay though. K03 powahhhhhhh. - Today I took in a 2002 Civic Type R; 60,000 miles, black, AC, not baaaad condition at all. A scuff on the rear quater and the clutch is low but when pumped it pumps up fine so should just need a bleed. 8 months tax and test; three owners. £1200. Think I'm going to buy it and sit on it for a bit and then sell it for a horrifying profit.

RobinJI
You could have killed us on ANY of the corners dude! Think the problem there is; its such a short lap, the quick cars soon end up lapping the slower cars at the back of the pack, who then panic, and its all goes to shit! That's true on trackdays, I've been in a spin at Camp in Liams mini where we caught a much slower mini a bit quickly and had to let off to avoid a crash, which instantly caused us to spin and come to a halt on the grass. In competitive racing everything's a lot more closely packed though, then I think it's partly just the corners. They're both fast entrys with quirks to the entry of them that can catch you out if you're not careful. Quarry's got Avon Rise causing a blind entry, and unsettling the car under braking (quick stuff needs to do some braking before avon rise, unless you've got epic brakes and huge balls), while camp's got a some really unsettling bumps that can catch out stiff set-ups (Combe tends to need a softer set-up than most tracks), then the double apex catches people out too. My photos from the day: Pierre, Angel and Andy on track: And a few of one of the drift demonstrations:
Revolver
How do you get red tyre smoke?
RobinJI
Special tyres, I'm not sure how they do it other than that though! I guess it's just a pigment in the rubber.

JD™
Anyone know why the airbag light on my A3 might have come on when all its been doing is sitting in a garage for months? The battery had died so I charged that up yesterday and it started first time and whatnot, just that light is a bitch.
AdamR28
Driven the car yet?
JD™
Yea, it was totally fine around the village last night but the light stayed on. I'm wondering if it could be anything to do with the fact the battery wasn't fully charged by the time I started it? Also, I've just read that the airbag leads can get pulled apart when moving seats back and forwards. Being as the last thing I did before I stuck it in the garage was give it a damn good clean that could be the issue - still means getting it reset with VAG-COM though Edited September 11, 2012 by JD™
AdamR28
Bummer. I don't know much about it to be honest, just when I disconnected the battery from my Skoda, it was like Blackpool illuminations until I'd driven it! Yeah pre-tensioners and clips etc can come loose - be worth giving them all a check
JD™
This conversation is definitely not happening because that car is taking up garage space and is not rear wheel drive, and is of course nothing to do with yesterdays video and resulting conversation...
Pete.M
Definitely something wrong with my cooling system, it doesn't hold any water. Needs a few litres every few days. But I can't see any leaks or water on the ground. And despite frequently running very low on water it has never over-heated. Even when I keep on top of filling it with water it doesn't bleed itself, so there's always air in the system too. I have no idea what I'm doing! AdamR28
Certainly must! Not dripping onto manifold etc so it evaporates rather than being visible? Tried K-Seal or anything?
