Luke Rainbird
Is there any way of chucking a 1"/2" ratchet strap around it to hold it to any base/mount it's on?
MadManMike
Yeah I need to have a look, it's currently not in any bracket or anything, just freely sat there with the cable taking all the strain (Hence the snap!) I'll see if I can drill a hole or two to bolt a strap on to.

New drop links ordered today should be here wednesday then car re tested friday and thats it for another year. Ordered the cl5+ pads also and they were cheaper than the ds2500
CurtisRider
I need help deciding on springs for my Porsche. Currently I have some FK springs with what appear to be approximately 400lb springs, this is perhaps a touch too hard for my car... bearing in mind my transmission is in the boot and it's hardly a heavy a car anyway. Stock springs are 170lbs from a bit of research, and two people on the Porsche forum have recommended 280lb for smooth road and 300lb+ for track. I don't really encounter smooth roads that often but don't want quite as soft a ride as my current stock springs. Should I go for 225 or 250lb springs? I have FK helper springs too, not sure if that makes any difference though going by stuff I have read on forums. I will have 7"springs with 4" helpers if that information is of any use! I'm not sure if I should just go for 10.5" springs instead?
CurtisRider
Suspension so far, just waiting on my coilover sleeves. Mk2 Golf shocks are an inch shorter and fit comfortably which is a bonus! Headlight intake thingy, needs a quick blob of paint and fitting properly to get a better idea of how it'll look
Pete.M
Theoretically the helper springs shouldn't affect anything as they should be fully compressed when the car is at rest. Without any knowledge of that car it sounds like 250lb would be a good bet, based on the original spring rate. It's quite a big increase but that's the way I'd have it for a weekend car. I'm looking at 500lb front and 300lb rear for my future build but that's because heavy racecar.
MadManMike
Just found out my MOT expired 21st of May! Fooooook. Be booking that in tomorrow then, I thought it was this month
CurtisRider
In that case I may as well just get a longer spring if there is anything to gain from it? It is a weekend car but sometimes I use it to go to work as I get bored of the daily oil burner, and I do 3/6 hour trips in it every so often

MadManMike
I hope the MOT place is sympathetic, I think it could fail on: Emissions Headlight angle (Which I'm gonna try and adjust tonight, just not sure where exactly they should be pointing!) AdamR28
Headlight - push car right up against a wall, make a mark on the wall at the same height as your headlight (bit of gaffer tape works well), roll the car back 20-30ft, adjust aim until it's level with the tape, no higher. MadManMike
Good shout, I'll do that tonight. All the stuff is on my list to sort ASAP, but I can't do all that in two days

MadManMike
Tyre foam to replace the spare wheel (As it takes up half my boot!). Is one 300ml can enough for a flat? I plan to keep the spare wheel so I can chuck it in the boot for MOT time, before anyone mentions it
