The Car Thread

I've never heard of anything like that before! Must be something to do with their insurance... I've not been to Llandow, it looks 'OK' but tends to kill front left tyres apparently, which makes sense looking at the track layout. Definitely cheap though, and should be a bit more relaxed than the 'proper' circuits.

How far is Anglesey for you? It has more run off than Oulton and will be cheaper, but the track surface is fairly abrasive and hard on tyres if its dry.

I'd say both Anglesey and Oulton have a good mix of fast and slow stuff, you'd enjoy either and as long as the car has fresh fluids it will easily take the 'abuse'. Just be prepared to get the bug ;)

Sounds good (Y)

Tyres... You will mostly feather the edges of the tread blocks, but if you 'budget' for about 2mm wear on the fronts that should do you just fine. Rears will hardly wear apart from the outer edge of the left rear. Brake pads varies quite a lot depending on a few things, but half material should be plenty. Worst case pop out to a motor factors and grab a new set at lunch.

What's oulton park like for a first timer track ?

Thinking of doing a novice day sometime and it is possibly the closest, any other suggestions for a first timer ?

Pretty lairy, but I guess they all are. Where abouts are you? Maybe Bedford autodrome depending on your driving abilities and confidence?

Llandow?

Small, tight track apparently, must be relatively close to you?

It's a cheap track, I'd like to take mine there. I think Adam has a different opinion, if my memory serves.

I've rode Llandow on a motorbike, to be honest it felt a bit small even for that

I haven't, I don't know if it would actually get up the hill  Plus hillclimbing / sprinting is just a case of who has the biggest wallet.
Last time I went there were a fair few 205's and low budget stuff. And lots of mega expensive stuff too.

Actually considering going BT, Nick, or just general momentary power dreams?

Still trying to work out whether to stick with standard k04 on mine or not. At present funds don't really allow for too much spending so need to see where finances stand in a few months and make the call really.

I'd forgotten about that. Sitting in it and getting driven around was fun, but f**k sitting on the bonnet.

The whole time it was going on Lukas and I were just going "Imagine if Red Bull knew about this..."
