Prawny Baby
Are we advising a harsh bed in for stock OE discs and pads here? Not sure how I feel about that.I'm not suggesting it's wrong, it's how you should always bed in 'race' type pads, but I'm not sure it's the correct procedure for an OE road pad.
AdamR28
The £32 a set (full car) Apec pads I fit to my race MX-5 go out straight into quali with no bedding and cause no long term problems, they do stop working after a couple of laps (green fade) but you learn to live with that as they do come back in again
CurtisRider
I'm guessing like for like size, can't really go any larger than the rad!

That's always been my opinion aswell (avoid heavy braking for the first 500 miles), and what i've been told by a couple of mechanics (who have probably been in the trade longer than i've been alive )
MadManMike
My OE Mazda discs and pads seemed like to like a few lock-ups from 80mph to bed them in...
Mark W
I found the best way to bed brake pads in was to slowly roll to a stop in the centre of your nearest junction whilst simultaneously shitting yourself and gripping the f**k out of the steering wheel.
AdamR28
You are meant to do the rotors slowly, but for the pads I just reckon its a 'safety' thing, like why they say not to rev a new car hard for X miles.
Pashley26
Running in cars gently is absolute bollocks. Piston rings need cylinder pressure to bed in, thrashing ***.
Prawny Baby
My fiesta got ruined straight from the minute it was dropped off with me. Goes like a champ now after 35k
AdamR28
Running in cars gently is absolute bollocks. Piston rings need cylinder pressure to bed in, thrashing ***. Exactly my point. The harder you use brake pads, the faster and batter the resins crosslink. Problem is if Mrs Jones does that she suffers green fade and crashes. MartMini
isnt this how you bed pads in? (Stolen from Prawns build thread )

JD™
Protip: If you want your wheels to look bigger than they are, just paint the sidewalls a bit as well as the rims.
dann2707
Also helps seal the tyre to stop it deflating for longer too.
HippY
Dan, I would not imagine that I would have every say it... But please, paint the tyres black. and the rims white. although I do have a thing for white rims

AdamR28
Yep!http://www.cliosportoc.com/images/clio-cup.jpg 11 spokes vs 12... The colours look good like that though, and 15" wheels are obviously better than 16s
Rowlly21
What effect would it have on the car putting 17" wheels on instead of the standard 16" ? Would there be slightly less torque and higher top speed or would I hardly notice ? The car is a fiesta zetec s petrol
