Need a little advice. The teg needs some decent rubber and have been offered ad048s at a really good price. There 195/50/16 and my current tyres are 205/45/16. Looking up the alloys they seem to only come in 7 inch width. Will these fit no problem?

Without meaning to be too picky, that's not a tyre that exists

It's either an AD08 / AD08R, or an A048.

AD08's are more road friendly and less track bias. Better for your needs as a road car I'd have thought.

A048's are very much a trackday semi slick R compound tyre. Utterly fantastic grip, but don't expect good life from them or amazing wet weather performance at all.

Size wise they should fit fine. I'll lay off the pies from today until the event to be absolutely sure I fit

Yes. Which means you have to come this time so you can drive it!

Absolutely 200% in for that!

Haha my mistake they are indeed a048 tyres. 4 delivered for the price of £450 brand new seems a steal to me. The cars not used on a daily basis once a week at the most definetly not used in the rain either so i think i should be pretty good with them since all hopefully be attending a few track days this year.

Anyways cheers mate am going to go ahead with the purchase get the crappy toyo r1s off asap.

In that case then you'll like them very much!

So glad I have 6j 15" wheels!

If £450 sounds expensive you should try buying a set of those tyre for mine :'(

£800 wouldn't cover a set :'(

I'd check what compound the A048s are, the old man uses them on his hill climb car and the softs he uses are very very soft. 15 minutes on hot tarmac in the sun can be too long and you end up leaving patches of rubber stuck behind as you roll away. Just something to bare in mind :)

All this tyre talk made me look up some tyres choices for those wheels I refurbed. Everything semi decent is upwards of £600 for the set from my brief look, which is nice. Fired off an email to my favourite part-worn shop instead, where I'll end up paying something like £200 I'd imagine... Here's hoping!

I know they're different tyres, but I got a great set for £200 fitted!

If a set of tyres cost £800 on mine, I'd just buy a different car each time :D

Yeh there medium compound so all is looking good. Would have been around £750 delivered buying from elsewhere but a retailer on the itr forum got a few sets in so £450 delivered I couldn't really pass up on.

Anyways they will be here Friday. Think this is the first time I have had to buy tyres for a car since I passed my test 6 years ago.

If I get a few track days out them and the odd weekend drive about with my pals all be happy enough.

Ye of much better experience than me:

I've got to cut the rear arches off of another E46 at a scrap yard (because that's a whole lot better than replacing the rear quarters at about £500 each) but the scrappy has said I can't use anything that'll cause sparks. That rules out the obvious angle grinder choice. What would you guys use?
