dann2707
Yeah they say BMW's indicators are optional extras as they are mainly owned by business wanker reps who think they own the motorway.
greg1040
Haha get you now. Cars just sitting patiently at the parents till the issue is sorted. I just plugged in my front window switches and the drivers side is working but the passanger aint. I have probably missed a plug somewhere. So thats no alarm siren, no indicators and no passanger window. Some wiring harness musnt be plugged in or isnt getting power some how. Pashley26
So. This morning I went out for a bit of a drive in the Mk2, traction was limited as always. Seemed to be going alright though. Arrived at the pub, had lunch with my dad then off to the workshop Up onto the ramp to have a poke around. I love V Band Old shifter out. Sat the shifter in to get the location. Dad holding the shifter in place so I could take a picture of the cable routing, trying to compare it with things on the internet. All done and carpets back in Took it for a quick spin, happy with that Then when I got home I cut a few inches out of the centre console, glued and screwed it together and refitted it all back in to keep it looking nice. Happy indeed, feels lovely.
manuel
I really do like this thing, even if it is terrifying... Now that there is no weight in the back it moves about a fair bit.... Driving a turbo Mk2 Golf is so different, nowhere near as fast but easily more dangerous.... You have to scan the road ahead for any change in surface, undulation or potential hazard and decide if the car will make it through with any speed. It's funny Doesn't this just mean that A. The suspension is shit, and B. You are driving like a bellend on public roads again?
Pashley26
The suspension is pretty shit. You don't even have to be driving like a bellend, you're still entirely juggling death even at what would be deemed a sensible speed.
Haz
Gotta cut my bonnet. What's the best way to do it without f**king everything up? I'd guess and say is 1.2mm steel skin and in places the skeleton is 2mm. I like the idea of a Dremel but don't fancy spending months to do it? Luke Rainbird
What are you cutting? Aero catches/similar? If so a couple of holesaws and a grinder ought to do the job.
forteh
Cover it with masking tape, mark out the cuts and use a 1mm cutting disk on an angle grinder. Straighter you can keep the cuts the easier it will be. Forget the dremel idea, no where near man enough fir the job. edit: if you need to put neat round holes in, it's worth investing in some mini rotabroach cutters, infinitely nicer finish than a fluted drill. TrialsIsHard
Just got an insurance quote of £680 for the GTi, being a 19 year old at uni with 2 years ncb- I am absolutely thrilled! My last quote was £1050 about 6 months ago when I was living in safe old Kent, how does insurance even work?

Luke Rainbird
It can be my goal for sorting mine out at all Swapped over the N75 at the weekend. It's helped a little, but sitll not right. Think it maaaay be the turbo (InB4Adam...) but given I factored in a fair bit of money for head work when buying it that I've since not needed, it's not the end of the world. Fortunately. dann2707
TFTD2 I still need to get on the case with that... This has to be fate as I dreamt about TFTD2 last night!! It was so f**king weird though. Jardo had a vending machine that if you spun it really fast it created burgers but they were chicken burgers with no chicken in them but he kept winking at me and going "You just have to put cheese on them as that's got loads of meat in " Then Pete came in for a few passenger laps with me and kept stretching his leg over resting it on mine, I accepted it a few times but in the end I just told him to get out as it was making me feel really uncomfortable. MadManMike
Adam have you any experience of wheel bearings on the MX? Looking for new rears, I assume the £16-19 ones off eBay aren't much good? Only worth going for OEM? Any pointers welcome...
AdamR28
Are they actually dead? I've haven't heard of many / any going, even on the race cars. Good guide here: http://www.miataturbo.net/suspension-brakes-drivetrain-49/how-replace-your-rear-wheel-bearings-without-press-56506/ You will need a puller for the hub, trying to knock the driveshaft out of the bearing does not happen easily!
