Broken rARB clamp = lame. Having got everything else on before realising and with the light fading I wasn't in the mood to pull it all off again. This vision of elegance and perfection will do for the short-term...

Anyone know where I might be able to grab a set of the Neuspeed clamps alone? Just the black bits in the photo below. Have emailed Neuspeed themselves but I have a feeling they'll point me at the full image-load of bits which they (may or may not) sell for $170 :ermm:

Would prefer to do it properly, but if all else fails:

I bought a Micra at the weekend. Needs nothing unless you're picky, which I am. 66k, £750 from a dealer and shit.

Not the bestest deal in history but it needs nothing unless you're a picky b*****d like me, and it was the only decent 1300 for sale with over 6 months MOT left within about 100 miles.

I absolutely love it. Such a happy little thing to drive.

Just finished having a proper look at the new (but old) Micra.

Interior out for a proper clean, gives me a chance to weld the floor without the risk of the carpet going up in flames.

Two tins of WaxOil ordered, a roll of brake pipe and 20 gauge sheet metal to patch the smaller holes, spot on for forming the floor runners/chassis leg patches with too.

O/S rear brake pipe to flexi from compensator.

Brakes from my old Micra to be moved across, front wheels (they have recent new tyres).

New back box on my old Micra to the new one, current is rotten.

Lacquer peel on drivers door and a shagged key - doors, bonnet, hatch and ignition barrel/transponder from old to new to enable both a working key/lock set but also better paint work.

Fit head unit to replace original Nissan issue cassette player.

Service, adjust clutch cable, machine polish and seal and enjoy cheap car.

In reality I could do the brake pipe and welding and leave it at that, but this way it'll be solid, clean and presentable and able to make some money when it comes to selling it later this year.

Its also only done 60k! Engine runs like its new, gearbox feels nice and tight and the clutch feels significantly smoother/user friendly than mine which was definitely on its last legs

Screw that for a laugh!

Have just bought 3m of jubilee clip band and a half dozen clamps, let's keep it agricultural for now :P

I work at a general laser cut/fabby workshop. We could knock something like that up in a few minutes. Might be worth poking into a local place and see if they'll do one on the side from the one you presumably still have.

If someone were to jump on the MX5 bandwagon with the objective of turning it into a weekend toy/long term project (turbo conversion) what would be the model they are looking for?.... (A) :$

This is what I have seen everyone saying. However, if the objective were to create a ~250bhp+ car then would it be more sensible to start with an NB 1.8 turbo?

No idea about getting that much bhp out of either engine. Adam might be along soon to help.

Got promoted to manager, was told I couldn't have the Panda any more because it doesn't display the correct image.

This made me very sad.

So they gave me a black Mazda 2 Sport.

I miss my Panda so much. But the new Mazda 2 is pretty fantastic. I'll post some pics later.

I'd be buying a complete, ready built, all the work done car.

Why waste loads of money doing something you can already buy completed for less than the cost of a reliable conversion?

Haha!

It's an odd one, motor trade has this weird ruling where the car you drive denotes your seniority within the sales force. It's antiquated and bollocks, but it's just the way it works.

I would have the new off road look 500x when it is launched, so this is a bit of an interim thing.

The after sales and service manager drives a 6 tourer, the general sales manager drives a CX5, the Mazda 3 is test driven all day every day so has to be on site all the time, the MX5 is not being replaced as a demo until the new one comes out and we have to run three Mazda 2's to display both engine and gearbox options.

So they're giving me a 2 until they find a third salesman for Mazda. Because then they hit the manufacturers demo requirements.

Complicated but it makes sense.
