Pashley26
Remember when I first met you Allen and you came with me to look at that POS 99 and we went in my 900. I knew you'd join in one day.
Azarathal
Cars clean, polished and waxed. Tried the demonshine snow foam thing but it was shit so resorted to autoglym car shampoo. Used G3 colour restor polish and paste wax. The polish was a bit of a pita as it dried out stupidly quick but the wax was fantastic. It's as good as it's gunna get (unless someone wants to mop It for me )

Boumsong
Now you have me looking for 9-3s again, such awesome looking cars! Its a 205R hot version too. 210bhp.
TrialsIsHard
at the moment im looking at those volvo hatchbacks or the alfa guiletta.(know nothing really about cars) It depends on the market but I believe you'll be getting the entry level Giulietta for 10k unless you're willing to get one with around 50k miles on the clock. Think about what you want in terms of power, MPG, boot capacity, etc and I'm sure people can give some recommendations. The more modern Fords are likely to be a good shout, as they are crazy fuel efficient and suitably cheap that you could probably get a very new one. HippY
I am going to buy the car so naturally I am looking for parts and upgrade parts prices 2 discs and pads are cheaper than 2 discs, no pads, on my bikes (£27 solid, £35 vented, £90 vented drilled slotted), front brakes are worn I will change it by time lowering springs: £70 my frame and for = £150 Wheels : set of 4 black 15" BBS = £200 ( 2 bike wheels are around the same too) I know that it is a cheap car (1.0 Corsa) but still, it is cheaper than the bike by a large margin.... A good surprise
Mark W
So you're going to be spending the price of the car itself on wheels and springs for it?
SamKidney
Hippy, don't bother on a Corsa. In before "you did to yours comments" My wheels were Vauxhall alloys, cost bigger all, springs were 20 quid and needed changing. If it's mechanically sound, Run it as it is mate
HippY
I try not to go on the other side of modifications, and first step will be the mechanical parts changing I know it is not going to be a racecar, but I just want it to look nice, if I am going to keep it for a year minimum So you're going to be spending the price of the car itself on wheels and springs for it? That is a valid point though. but I want it to look proper(ish)
AdamR28
It will look more proper with the wheels Vauxhall intended it to have!

CurtisRider
The Porsche has been looking really sorry for itself recently, it hardly gets used and i've neglected it. After the most painful starting i've ever heard it eventually fired up (these things hate sitting about!) and was ticking over as nicely as it ever has done. I need to pull out the headlining as I have a leak somewhere but I can't seem to find it... Meh summer is coming! I decided that seeing as I don't have the cash yet to do the engine swap I might as well get the car looking more presentable for the summer as I have a few trips planned and it'd be nice to use this when the sun is out. The front end really needs some love after the front panel paint reacted and cracked up, as well as the front valance getting damaged when I had the engine out. I'm going to remove the front panel and make it bolt on as per the 944 (currently spot welded on) as It'll need to come off later for intercooler mounting. I guess I'll be using rivnuts to secure it with unless anybody has better suggestions? Spare front valance straightened out and sanded back, then a quick coat of filler primer (I need to get some more). Spare headlight covers sanded back (mine are dented and rusty) Poor car looks shocked.... Now to find somewhere that sells spot weld bits and gets removing that front panel (I sanded it in situ as it's quit a flexy panel on its own). I also need a compressor, i'm hoping a friend has one I can borrow or I could go back to Suffolk and use the one on the farm but that means putting the front together again! AdamR28
Pop up lights, woooo!Wet, cold and oily Donington is slippery: (Only the first couple of minutes of slidey stuff is interesting, the rest is just some clear lapping towards the end of the day)
CurtisRider
I do love the lights, I kind of fancy going to square ones and having a slightly sleepier look (also gives me room for air vents in the covers....) I've now got the badge panel off, nearly got it all prepped too. I need to wash the front panel of the car and give it a lick of paint so it all keeps nice under there. I will have to rework the front duct panel for the intercooler, I want to make it as stealthy an install as possible when I do get round to it

Nothing amazingly fast, a bit of nip would be nice but as long as its comfortable to do a 2 hour motorway slog at 90 im not too bothered. What mileage is considered a lot when youre spending a substantial amount? The last car i bought was a £700 106 so anything under 100k was in the range.... Roughly speaking 2 litre, 40MPG (Is that low these days), big enough boot to sling a bike in the back with the front wheel off without scratching the thing/having the handlebars in my face. Looking at the current trends on here this is all pointing directly at LCR/a3 direction?? Real quick look on autotrader and it would be something along these lines probably..http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201503121660686/sort/default/page/2/make/alfa_romeo/radius/1500/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/price-to/11000/postcode/bs137hr/quicksearch/true/price-from/9000/model/giulietta/usedcars?logcode=p Edited March 14, 2015 by Joeyeld
Mark W
Pop up lights, woooo! Wet, cold and oily Donington is slippery: *vid m8* (Only the first couple of minutes of slidey stuff is interesting, the rest is just some clear lapping towards the end of the day) Does the person who lost the sump plug/coated the track in oil get any kind of reprimand at all? Seems pretty sketchy! Lucky it wasn't a mixed day as if there were bikes around there'd have been a reasonable amount of lying down going on I'd imagine... Bessell's new car looks pretty fruity too Has Dave bought an MX-5 yet?
AdamR28
Nope. Just a good scowling at by the rest of the paddock! Proper carnage all day, about 7 red flags, cars in the gravel all over the place, two other cars shat loads of oil down as well. Not ideal... Haha, yeah his car does look sweet. V Racing edition Not yet, I'm working on it... He couldn't drive mine cos the seat's fixed down and his legs are too long, booo.

You must have bought the best one out there as I paid £300 for my first 106, and frankly I probably overpaid! But yes, something like the Alfa (I'm bias because I really like the Giulietta) or a diesel A3 would be perfect. A LCR is probably a bit off for what you're looking for, comfortable enough to do a 2 hour motorway journey, but the Alfa is more... civilised. I'm going to be driving the 106 to Swansea in a few weeks, any tips on how to tolerate the induction drone? It's going to drive me mental.
