dann2707
I only paid £10 over all, £2 for the u bolts and £8 for the alu bar. It's also sturdy as frozen shit

SamKidney
How do people cope with loud exhausts? My back box dropped off my Micra on the way to work this morning and I made a temporary pipe just to hang what was left away from the axle and it sounds f**king horrific. Genuinely can't wait for my new one, or I'm welding my old one back on.
MartMini
nice cars with loud exhausts (within reason) sound nice. Shit cars with bakebean tins on the back always sound wank
Skoze
You get used to it. The Capri's bearable with the Janspeeds, can have a conversation if you keep the revs sensible. Landy is just stupid and that has a 4ft long 3" side-exit. I hate it.
SamKidney
I guess thats true. I suppose being a straight pipe its going to be fairly harsh sounding. Does make some nice burbles/pops on down changes though.... (Its a f**king Micra, nothing about it is nice )
MadManMike
My exhaust has a leak somewhere, the cat rattles and there's some loose heatshield somewhere near the front still. Surprisingly, it sounds quite nice in a broken kind of way. I am looking for a new one though
Pashley26
Direction change with the sunroof idea. It turns out that PAB off CGTI has a "spare" carbon roof which he is willing to sell me. When he fitted his to his multiple best in show winning Mk2 he literally just dropped it on top of the original roof skin. http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?196688-The-difficult-third-project&p=1915728&viewfull=1#post1915728 Awesome! Cut out the sunroof shit from inside, remove the finishing trim from the roof and prime the hole to stop any rusting, flat the roof and clean the living day lights out of it, remove the gutter trim, apply a thin layer of tiger seal, drop the carbon roof on and tape it down. Job done. A much neater solution, if 10x as expensive as the Lexan.
Danny
A fair few people have done carbon skins on mini roofs. If using a cage they remove most of the steel skin as well but i guess theres no need for that.Just make sure its decent lacquer/resin and does go shit due to UV in 6 months. Pashley26
It was a very expensive roof, but has a chip in the corner of it from transit. But it's more than nice enough for me. I haven't a clue how to get it home though. It's probably too fragile to courier. And too much hassle to rent a van for the day...So I have a plan!!! My plan is to drive the Golf to Mansfield where the roof is. Place it on the roof of my Mk2, tape the shit out of it with masking tape. And drive home. With a roof...taped to my roof. Ridiculous or genius?
JD™
Please use masking tape Other than that, I wouldn't be too worried apart from potential lift generated to pull the carbon roof off your roof.
Pashley26
If I use LOADS of it, tape it front to back, side to side, layer some marking tape across the front of the roof surround and across the front of the roof, wrap it through the doors, everything. It'll be fine. I've been offered such a good deal on the roof I've got to buy it.
Azarathal
Cling film around it and through the windows
JD™
Clear plastic stuff, then clingfilm, then mother f**king duct tape, repeat until the thought of looking in your rear view mirror at a carbon roof causing death and destruction on the motorway subsides.
AdamR28
A few strips of duct tape will do it, we hold cars together with that shit when it goes tits up on race weekends... All you need to do is stop air getting under the front and it won't go anywhere.
Skoze
And add a f**k off front splitter to stop you doing a Webber at speed.

Danny
So whens the roadtrip? Is a new headlining easy to fit or is a windows out jobbo?
Luke Rainbird
You know how much I love ridiculous, spur of the moment missions that should never work but somehow do. Even I'm wondering why you don't just throw it in the back of a van - either borrowed or stolen from work. Fiat do still sell vans, right? Danny
But where is the fun in that?
george_seamons
Surely it will fit in the spastic wagon?
Pashley26
Surely it will fit in the spastic wagon? I did get a 50" TV in the back of it, so maybe. I'll do some measuring.
Luke Rainbird
But where is the fun in that? It's more a case of damage control. Not so much of the roof, but in terms of the miserable posts in here when it all goes wrong Unrelated: Looks like there's going to be a group buy on Relentless Pro4 manis soon. Tempting... Tom Booth
I wouldn't worry about the roof going a stray in Mansfield, I'd be more worried about wheels, seats, glass/ anything that's on the shell.
