CurtisRider
Centre bore? I think Mike should tread carefully next time with his jokes.
MadManMike
When people don't understand a bad joke it will definitely compound the issue. We should just let it slide this time, before we dish out insults or take a negative stance on the situation.

craigjames
Got home today. Exhaust gasket is here.710N is here. Twin light grille is here. Woo. New? Where did you get one from? All I can find are 710P, which i had read weren't made by Bosch and weren't as good? Maybe bull....
george_seamons
P is the revised version. Exactly the same, but made by Mayair instead of Bosch. I have one on my 350bhp 1.8t, and not had any issues
Pashley26
Potentially bought a quick rack too, got offered one from the CGTI group buy. A new Meyle non PAS rack is £55, the 2.9 rack and pinion is £105, new lower arms are £50 the pair, new track rods are £28. So for under £250 I can convert from PAS to manual, fit a new quick rack and replace everything for the front steering. I love how cheap Mk2's are.
MadManMike
That's the beauty of my car too, replaced all the brakes for about £300 total (Calipers, discs, pads) and I could do an engine swap for £150!
AdamR28
I love how cheap Mk2's are. A load more expensive than MX-5s, you mean? My PAS to manual conversion cost nothing and saved 29kg
Pashley26
I could convert to manual steering for free. But I want a quick rack and the Quaife kit only works with aftermarket Meyle racks so for the sake of £55 I might as well buy one.
MadManMike
A load more expensive than MX-5s, you mean? My PAS to manual conversion cost nothing and saved 29kg Would you recommend it on a road car? A few people have suggested it, but I'm not sure if it's good for a daily driver... MartMini
It'll be fine. Bit heavy when in car parks, going slow, ect. But once your doing any sensible speed, it wont be noticeably heavier
AdamR28
Yeah, I used non PAS (de-powered manual rack) on a road car for a year or so, it is noticeable but doesn't cause any issues
Danny
29kg not 2.9kg? Whats it made out of? Lead?
AdamR28
Haha. Pump, bracket, pipework, belt, reservoir....
MartMini
plus you got to take in account they'll be less drag on the engine
SamKidney
It can be suprising how much drag ancillaries induce on an engine. I'm planning on a PAS to manual rack conversion in my Civic (When its bought). As simple as removing the pump, associated pipework and belt, and then looping out the ports togther on the rack, leaving a some fluid in for lubrication purposes. Some run a vented reservoir making an effectively open system so the racks always full but others have done it for years just looping them out. MartMini
Had an awesome moment on the way home today, where i switched the radio off, wound the windows down and listened to the DB9 i was following..... Pete.M
Anyone ever been very excited when pulling up alongside someone driving the same thing as you because it's pretty rare like a modified Volvo 940, and then felt too awkward to look at the guy or acknowledge him in any way? Yup, I am the worst guy.
SamKidney
Micra is unbelievably good on fuel. Im so so skint, put my last £10.00 to get home from my Dads in Barton to East Morton, around 80 miles on Monday morning. Im home, and still driving on that £10.00 and just clocked 100 miles since I tripped it after filling up. Mega MPG from a 15 year old 1.0L Nissan with a f**ked airflow sensor and a blowing exhaust. Tempted to brim the tank this Friday and go eco drive mode until empty again and see how many miles VS cost I get. Then compare it again another week with a working air flow meter.
