Ross McArthur
We got the handbrake caliper motor taken off and used a T45 to unwind the piston (is that the right word?) so the pads released from the disc. So at least I can drive the car now instead of having to have it put on a low loader. Going to buy a new unit tomorrow and get that fitted on.

Danny
What are peoples experiences with buying tires online (camskill)? Are most garages ok with fitting customer supplied tires?Tire-shopper have them for £130 each fitted.Camskill are £101 each + £5 delivery. AdamR28
Camskill are very efficient, and have found garages happy to take £40-50 of your money for less than an hour's work! They prefer it if you take just the wheels though, for obvious reasons.
Wrayvon
Usually get my tyres from Camskill and never had a problem taking them to a garage to get fitted. Plenty of places nearby for you (assuming you still live in Bingley like your profile location suggests) that will do it for £5 a tyre. Pashley26
I haven't ever had a problem getting tires fitted to wheel
AdamR28
Just saying... http://circuit-days.co.uk/event_info.asp?id=560Perfect location but a bit pricey... I do have an 'up to £200' voucher with CD though...

Pashley26
Confidence. It's lacking. Hilarious on the road where it's immensly irresponsible and dangerous I'm monster fast on roads I know. But it seems to take me far too long to feel comfortable on a track. I don't know why. It's stupid really. Hopefully the much slower Mk2 will help me be a better driver and make up time in the corners, I should have enough power to make up for my shitness in the corners, but I will probably spend most of my time indicating right to let people pass; my friends are all a LOT faster than me. I just seem to take every corner far too sharply and not use enough of the track on exits and entry. "It's not a race." Haha. AdamR28
That is very strange. As you said though, a 'slower' car is a great way to learn to drive faster, as you can't rely on power. Shame Curby isn't a 'proper' track, still should be fun though

Are most garages ok with fitting customer supplied tires? Tire-shopper have them for £130 each fitted. Camskill are £101 each + £5 delivery. I got my EfficientGrips from Tyre Leader, cheapest place for them. Local tyre place fitted them for £4 a wheel. Total cost for 4 new tyres, fitted, £
dann2707
Got mine from Tyreleader too as it's free postage and they were the cheapest for PS3's
Danny
I was going to get PS3's again but i'm going to try Pilot Super Sports instead as they are only about £5 more.
AdamR28
Dunno how much it matters to you guys but... check the date stamps before buying from Tyreleader. They will be on the sidewall, 4 digits, first two are the week number and the last two are the year. Anything over a couple of years old will tend to be pretty hard and may start to crack before you wear the tread out. Stack em high, sell em cheap... Danny
Thats a good point but i guess thats the same as anywhere really. Most smaller garages just phone up a wholesaler which probably has them stacked high.
AdamR28
True - Camskill for example seem to have good turnover of stock though, tend to get fresh stuff from them.
Ross McArthur
There was an additional surcharge of £40 because I hadn't handed in my old caliper (will be refunded when I do) thought that was strange.
Azarathal
They'll refurb your old calliper so £40 is covering them having to buy another broken one to fix and sell on as new
AdamR28
Ah yeah, the old refurbed unit surcharge!
Ross McArthur
So if they dont get my old f**ked one to refurb and sell on (for £200 (which I paid for the one I just got)) They charge me an extra £40? What the f**k??
