Pashley26
Woooooo!!!! That's at BELOW 1 bar, it's just actuator pressure. When this is mapped it's going to be a f**king monster, arguably it's capable of more power and torque than the S3 had 300bhp on the cards. I hate public transport, in fact lets just cap it off...I f**king hate London. Almost a 4 hour train journey later (to travel less than 50 miles), I got to the station, as I was on the phone to Prawn and walking to his house I said 'f**k me, there's an amazing looking Mk2 coming the other way! It looks just like mine but the reg is different, what's the chances of that?!' Turns out Bruno had put on a bit of a welcome party, his friend was picking me up from the station in his stunning 16VT Mk2. Got to the car, had a quick chat, threw an envelope of cash at Bruno which he didn't even look at let alone count. He gave me the keys, I told him I'd be back in a couple of weeks to pick up all the spares and off I went. Proper job. The traffic getting back from N11 London, at 6PM was HORRIFIC. Two hours of constant stop start traffic crawling at that annoying 2mph crawl pace that isn't quite out of gear foot on the clutch but doesn't warrant stopping and then setting off again. Rrrrrr. The car was perfect though! Then as soon as I got out of London I absolutely annihilated it to Prawns, where it also didn't skip a beat. Took some pictures. Battery voltage and ambient engine bay temps. There's a couple of issues. It's HUGELY over cooled. It just never gets up to temp, ever. It's got a double core aluminium radiator with two fans on it, which is massive over kill. The rear engine/gearbox mount is toast. There's a lot of slop. It's too low, and the tires are too small and the wheels are too big. It needs mapping, badly. But otherwise, it's rad. Pashley26
Will look great with a caravan on the back of it that will! I want one, just for lols. I can get a little trailer for all the tires and tools for track days! Who ever thought a track car with a tow bar could be so attractive. george_seamons
Those wheels are so f**king hideous. Other than that, it looks cool. I'd love a 1.8t mk2 golf!

MadManMike
On my lunch break I just fitted an aux lead that goes from here: To here: I now have CD's, USB stick and aux to use in the car. Winner.
AdamR28
The joys of old cars without those shitty f**king 'break if you try to take them off' trim clips!
Luke Rainbird
Finally got round to booking in the car for MOT next week. Hoping it shouldn't need anything major, but expecting a few bushes and bits I've not had a chance to explore yet. Be a good chance to throw in some poly bushes if so. MadManMike
Amen to that Adam, I've had that centre console out loads already, changing gear boots etc... Rainbird - to answer your question on FB, unfortunately not, the aux on the back is actually for a CD changer (Which I assume won't work). JDâ„¢
Can usually get adaptors for that Mike, and it's much cleaner. My current car, the 5 series and the Mini (RIP) have had devices by Connects2 which have done a great job and all plugged into the CD changer port. MadManMike
I paid 99p for the aux lead, I don't really have any desire to spend more on it It's not too untidy as it is, so I'm not that fussed...
MartMini
plan for the weekend: (as well as the 25mm eibach front arb) Anyone seen this? i thought the old bushes had duct tape in them, so i pealed it out, it looks like it was a part of the bush? is it some anti-friction material? David
plan for the weekend: 2015-02-13 18.30.24.jpg (as well as the 25mm eibach front arb) Anyone seen this? i thought the old bushes had duct tape in them, so i pealed it out, it looks like it was a part of the bush? is it some anti-friction material? 2015-02-11 23.20.52.jpg I attempted my ARB bushes the other week but had to give up. The new bushes mean't that the bolts were too short to reach into the threaded part. The internet says this is very common and most people used longer bolts. I tried that, although I was using cheese bolts and managed to snap them due to the tension required to compress the bushes. Going to get some better bolts and try again sometime. Also, the bushes have a thicker part which must face towards the ground so you can put them in incorrectly if your rushing!
Luke Rainbird
Decent, longer bolts to pull the bracket into place then the standard bolts to hold everything together
dann2707
When I did mine a few weeks ago I used a mini g-clamp to hold the arb to the subframe then used the standard bolt. I know it's an entirely different car but just some food for thought. I was also fitting black series powerflex bushes which I think are somewhere near diamond on a hardness scale. MadManMike
So, no de-cat fitted still. That shit ain't moving. Gonna get my suspension and de-cat fitted by a local guy who has better facilities to chop it off and sort it properly.
MartMini
and shes fitted! ended up having to buy some superpro bushes as i buggered the ones up that came with it. Honestly the difference is like night and day, SO much more stable through the corners and at speed And David, i just used a crow bar to compress it enough for the bolt to catch

CurtisRider
Relocating the handbrake mounting is a wanker, it's going to be tight as fookery in there! MadManMike
It should have if it's CD changer compatible... It has a blue aux socket, which I read was a CD changer socket... I was under the impression that green aux sockets were for audio?
