Pashley26
So. Cunting traffic! I hate the North Circular, and I swear if I wasn't going to look at a car I've wanted to own since I was 15 I'd probably have just crashed my Panda in the hope of knocking myself out so I was at least unconscious though the ordeal. Got to the guys house half an hour before he got home, it was dark, I was parked in a shifty place the neighbours thought I was a bit dodgy hanging around the garages and it was all a bit weird. Had a look around the car, hell it's straight and solid! There's a little dig in the drivers rear 1/4 on the swage line, there's a little bit of lacquer peel on the rear 1/4 passenger side by the roof, and two scuffs right on the corners where they meet the rear boot panel above the bumper. No biggie, the most important thing is that apart from a tiny bit of rust by the drivers wiper grommet it's not rotten anywhere. £500's worth of bodywork at trade, max. The owner turned up, has a chat with him, he's a spot on guy and knows what he's doing. There wasn't anything on the car that made me think 'thats f**king stupid.' Quite rare. Started up, straight away I knew I was buying it. He took me a mile down the road, it just confirmed my thoughts. We swapped over, I took it for a thrash. Yep, I'm buying it! There's a few mapping issues, it soft cut rev limits at 6K, there's a momentary dead spot if you floor it from 2/3000RPM, the engine mounts are a bit slack, but yeah it pulls good and strong in every gear. I told the guy I was buying it, job done. Pulled over to take a picture. I couldn't take it home tonight in the end, he's got an AFR gauge plumbed into it, the steering wheel on it was a present from his wife, and he wants to take the tow bar off. Fair enough. So I'm getting a train to him tomorrow and I'll take it home tomorrow. One last picture.

Pashley26
They look like A4 Sport wheels.

Jolfa
1.8t MK2 at £1500, you can't go wrong, you could turn £1k profit on that tomorrow! Couple of things though (naturally, I am still Jolfa) glass sunroof shouldn't be on that car, I'd be wary of a shot roof skin (and rear quarter and wiper blank which are all of the worst places for rot, check fuel filler aswell), it's too cheap, it looks chavved, untidy and not a very neat install, would assume hammered AND I don't like Atlas or Pearl Grey BUT, despite my current situation, if I'd seen that before you, and/or I was in a situation to buy a car I would have snatched that up without a second thought!!! Top buy, jealous!
Pashley26
Muchos Gracias. The gass sunroof if an aftermarket Webasto one, it drops down and slides under the roof electrically. It's f**king gash. Carbon reskin is the most probably answer, have you ever reskinned a Mk2 roof? Fuel filler is mint, checked that. The rear wiper blank looked ok, it was dark. I quite like Atlas, but I'm almost certain there are parts of this car that are Pearl Grey too haha.
MadManMike
These are like a mint version of my wheels, should I buy them? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15-BBS-alloys-wheels-4x100-VW-Golf-polo-caddy-lupo-corrado-arosa-BMW-e30-mx5-/321662043880?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item4ae48d46e8

MadManMike
I've also seen some similar ones for £20 more that are gold with polished rims... Hmm...
Luke Rainbird
Ordered a Badger5 TIP just over a week ago directly through Bill, only to now be told they won't be with him until the end of the month and me first week in March or so. Lame.Have asked Bill to refund me so I can pick up another - going to grab one direct from manufacturer. Cheaper, identical (as in from the exact same forming tool) and here for the weekend/early next week.

Luke Rainbird
Oh Bill indeed. As much as I really want to like Bill and support B5, him being so non-internetty and not keeping on top of stuff like stock really seems to let him down. He seems very good at what he does, but the customer experience is very much "Gloucestershire man in shed"
MadManMike
Yeah I asked him for some pricing on stuff for my old Leon and I got a very short reply that came across rude, so I didn't bother taking it any further. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he came across as a cock in his email.
Tom Booth
Mike, for that money yours could have a very decent refurb?
MadManMike
Yeah but I also need centre caps for mine and the cheapest I've seen so far is £50 - EACH! I could sell mine for about £100, so that would mean a decent set of wheels for about £100, without the hassle of having the car off the road while they're refurbed.
george_seamons
Bill's a fanny. Very good at fabrication work, but he is a miserable b*****d, and his customer service is appaulling. He also puts SUCH a markup on things its ridiculous.
Pashley26
Stopped in at The Phirm on the way home, they've got a set of 16'' Borbet T's with Yokohama Parada Spec 2's. They're brand new, and they want £450 for them. From an abandoned project. Whilst the tires are shit, I'm pretty tempted.
george_seamons
I wouldn't say Prada's are shit. I had some on my Audi, and rated them fairly well. They are disasterous in the wet, but if the road is dry, they feel good for a road hoon. They are quite soft, so grip well. They go off very quickly on track though. Pashley26
I hope it will be! Bloody hell...I don't have like to bite off far more than I can chew some times, usually resulting in far too much stress, expense and pressure  I haven't even picked it up yet, and I've already bought a new key for it, a four light grille, a new gearbox mount, and probably a set of wheels. Pashley26
It's alright, it's not like Prawn has a life; he'll help... The guy's just text me, all is good for pick up at half 5 I'm moderately overly excited. I hope I don't break down on the way to Nicks tonight.
