Ash-Kennard
Drove 380 glorious miles in the Leon to South Wales, my god the work nick and I did yesterday made a difference. Certainly in a good way. Not bad for £410 total including a free tyre and glove box New bits: Don't worry they won't be Red for long. and that strut brace will have some work done too. Luke Rainbird
Winner. Minimal work needed to the brace - I've got one sitting here at home but won't be doing anything with it until I've stiffened up the rear end considerably first. On that note, don't suppose the seller had a rear ARB going?!

CurtisRider
If a handbrake lever interferes with the drivers seat does that count as an MOT fail? I really want to fit the Impreza seats I bought a while back and the handbrake will rub against the side of the seat in its current position if I do so but will still be able to operate fine. I may be able to offset the lever a bit which would help loads, just means ditching or modifying the door pocket but i'd rather not lose my lovely leather 944 handbrake arm
dann2707
Does anyone have a recommendation for an in car mounting kit for track days etc? Wanting to have my mobius behind the passenger and driver in the middle so maybe some kind of bracket that attaches to the headrest poles? Something like that, thought there might be a universal kit available someone might know about? Thanks

Does anyone have a recommendation for an in car mounting kit for track days etc? Something like that, thought there might be a universal kit available someone might know about? Thanks Some chap posted on one of the VAG FB groups the other day with a length of tubing (looked like a broom handle!) with a few holes drilled in that the headrests slotted down through, securing it in place. Not a lot of use if you plan to move the seats and looked pretty gash though. Can't you get a little mount for them to attach to the rear view mirrow that's pretty simliar to a handlebar/pole mount? If so that may work on the innermost passenger headrest pole perhaps. I may do something similar for my GoPro for the day just for a bit of a laugh (certainly don't expect anything worth a watch!) - best I've had in the past was from the rear edge of the sunroof but the LCR doesn't have one of those Such blue smoke. Very engine dying. Dude. Lame
MadManMike
Not the end of the world, an engine with half the miles on should be a 1/3 of the price I paid for just a turbo on my Leon... Does suck, but it could be worse.

AdamR28
Probably not actually, as he'll have been posting on the internet at that time

MadManMike
If we're really doing this, it was 07:11, 9th Feb 2015. On a serious note, I get it for the first 5 or 10 minutes when I start up. It's definitely running rich, waaaaay too rich and it's burning oil. I fixed all visible leaks, so I can only guess the engine is drinking it When I say smoke, I mean a massive cloud. A real "I can't see shit" kinda scenario if you were behind me.
AdamR28
So it's on throttle, until the engine is fully warmed up? In that case it's probably the oil control rings, they get gummed up over time when people (previous owners) don't change their oil frequently enough or use decent stuff. Easiest / cheapest way is a new lump as you said... The rings aren't expensive but it's the labour to fit them.
MadManMike
Idle and throttle. It smells mostly of petrol, but then my car has idled badly since I got it and I suspect the timing might need a little tweak too. The smoke is blue though and I have to top up 500ml of oil every 3 weeks.
MartMini
brings back memories of my mini, burning a liter of oil a day when i took it to germany
Pete.M
Mike, get the new sump pre-drilled for a turbo oil return, then the future conversion will be easier But seriously that's a bit of a bummer ahead of the track day. Edited February 9, 2015 by Pete.M
Luke Rainbird
Bummer yes, but means you can thrash it a little harder knowing it'll be replaced in the near future Can you pick up an already turbo-converted lump to throw in there while you're at it?
MadManMike
The main issue is my budget of £0 doesn't quite cover a turbo conversion. If the engine is eating oil, I guess it's game over then? Nothing I can replace to solve the problem?
Azarathal
Do they supercharge well? I'd imagine the lagless response and a bit more power would keep the car fun and tail happy
MadManMike
Yeah I went out in a supercharged one that was running 240bhp. It felt amazing. If I had the money, I'd definitely take it to Skuzzle and get them to overhaul the engine and add a turbo or super. Cheapest option is to buy a new one that's already done.
