Muel
Anyone got the link to Prawn's new garage thread? I've had a quick search but can't find it. I enjoy looking at awesome workshops.

Muel
Aye found it in the end, ta. Was hoping for updates though, that slab has so much promise haha.
David
Spent all day replacing the inner tie rods on the LC. What a pain undoing the inner rod! Hardly any room at all but managed it in the end. Just hope I got them tight enough in the end... While I was there I replaced my ARB drop links and also attempted the ARB bushes. However, I couldn't get the bush brackets to compress enough so I could get the bolts in. I tried a longer bolt but it must of been made of cheese as it snapped in half when trying to compress the bracket. Any tips? Use stronger, long bolts? Luke Rainbird
Have you definitely got the right bushes? There were a few different diameters of ARB across the VAG range so it'd be worth double checking to be sure. I seem to remember it being a fairly simple job with no real difficulty, though that was with standard bushes which are a smidge softer than poly etc if that's what you're using. David
Hmm I was just thinking the same. These are OEM Febi ones. The gap between the bush bracket and where it mates is quite large. I'll have to go measure them...

Greetings
My friend and I went into the woods a few days ago, here'a short stage we managed to learn more or less from start to finish which meant we could drive more quickly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWwU4YGOPNA Also I love the police over here. We were sort of pulled over (actually, we accidentally stopped next to a police car despite desperately trying to avoid them the whole night) and although they could easily have issued lots of fines and had the cars towed, they just checked our documents and asked some informal technical questions about the cars. Among other things, they ignored my lack of a front numberplate or sticker on the windscreen (which was shattered by then), the rally lights on the bonnet or gravel tyres. On the other hand, if you're 18 and drive a "tuned" Civic with silly additions like a tow hook, it's not uncommon for the rozzers to look for illegal mods until they have enough material to issue a fine

MadManMike
I edited out the dust sheet and floor: Yeah, it's amazing. The noise was incredible, such a great car. Got to 130 and felt like we were only doing 60!
dann2707
Is because it felt comfortable whilst doing that speed or because it got up to it so quickly?
MadManMike
Is because it felt comfortable whilst doing that speed or because it got up to it so quickly? It got there quickly, but more to do with the fact it's only around 3k in 6th doing that speed. It felt so planted - most other cars at 100+ feel light and although comfortable, you know they're doing that speed. Incredible machine.
Jake.
The caddy is on the road!! Taking her to a welders tomorrow for a quote. Radiator ain't kicking in and smoke is coming from injectors which seem to be slightly leaking in all but one, assume just a tighten will do the job?

SamKidney
Have a look and make sure the little leak off pipes aren't leaking Jake. Prone to going dry/perished and leak diesel onto the outside of the injectors/top of the diesel pump and cause said smoke once hot. Going round all the unions and checking they're tight wont do any harm though, both at the pump end and the injector side.
CurtisRider
Yeah those little leak of pipes are very common, make sure you get some tubing that is fuel resistant! Sounds obvious but I've seen some totally unsuitable hose fitted

Call it a pint and a dutch rudder and you're on; are you climbing tomorrow? Currently dealing with a somewhat non-functioning back and a gammy finger so not ideal but may head up briefly after work. Assume you and Joe will be about?

p_ruskin
Picked myself up a Mk1 Scirocco last year, 79 1.6 GLS, all original at the moment, have got some ideas in the pipeline for when I've given it a respray and fitted the new middle section
